This looks waay different from the in-hand pics we have been seeing lately. Actually I think this is the first time where SS Site pics are better. I wonder if there will be slight variations in this.

It all depends on the lighting. The SS pic has hardly any direct lighting on the material in question. The first pics in hand that we saw were focused on the material and used flash which made it look redder than it probably is in person.

I don't have mine yet but I'm sure that the actual color is in between the two photos and much redder than the original pics or what was seen at SDCC. I can't imagine getting rid of it because of that. Mine will be displayed on a bottom shelf with Frodo and there will not be a lot of light on that shelf.

I do think that SS owes it to people who have this on Flex Pay to be able to cancel without penalty. It's not the customer's fault that the material used is different than the proto and they should not be penalized for it.

will have to wait for the masses to get theirs and post pics... that said, there is nothing wrong with people expressing there disapointment.. especially since these are so called highend collectables! $200 and up = ^^^^^ away! $199 and under = STFU! ;)

If mine looks like the image above when it gets here then I'll keep it. I'll stain the leather in due time to make it more like what we were expecting, and I still would have preferred it to look more like the prototype, but I'm content with how it looks for now.

yeah, that looks pretty good imo.
not much work to make it look more like the original if a guy wanted to.

People can ^^^^^ away if they want to, but the only real choices are:

1) Keep it
2) Cancel it

But they will still ^^^^^. Even those that canceled will ^^^^^. Even those that never ordered will ^^^^^.

I for one can't wait to have this guy next to Frodo. I hope the exclusive head doesn't have too much neck so I can display it at the feet of Frodo.

If I can be guarantee that I get something like the new prototype picture, then I'll re-order him. Otherwise, I can live without owning a non holy-grail piece in my opinion.

Thats a great looking pic of the Moria Orc :D

Don't hurt me!

I did it anyway even after I said I would not do it.

I weathered it!

It took me some time to think it over, once I started I could not stop. I was scared because I was thinking, am I destroying a 300 dollar statue? The great news is NO.

Please know that it is my choice to do this. I am not telling anyone here to do it. I am just letting you know that I am altering my statue and the means to how I am doing it.

I was able to get the clothing and leather darker with just an application of stain.
The stain used was minwax golden oak wood finish that I have (from W al M art ). The cool part about the stain is that you don't have to worry about an oops onto the statue because it wipes right off. Don't just slap it on, you should still be carefull about applying it to the clothes and leather.

He looks 100% better with just the stain! I don't know the long term effects of using this stain but it did work. Note: the stain smell will go away with time.

The next step for me is to dirty him up a bit. I am checking my model paints and pastel chalks to see what will give me the desired look. That task will be attempted today.

There are some red hot spots from the flash but overall you can see the progress from just the stain alone.
