I'm liking the gray suits. Nice work.

I guess its a bit of a choice which shade of gray one goes for, since their suits seem to change shade depending on the lighting. But "the boys in gray" definitely answers the question.

I think I might even dip the pack straps in the gray dye for a moment or two as well, just to tone down the green a little.

yeah he did a cool job on the colour of the suit i think too. and i agree, alot of ppl have varied opinions on the colour of the suit, but again the lighting dont help. i think i might have ago and go for a tad lighter shade that what mr e did but not too far from what he did. its far better then the mattel original colour anyway.

i like the idea of dying the pack straps aswel to darken those. they def need doin as they are too bright,

same goes for the ecto goggles for me, they are too clean and in the movie they are a darker green so i will prob try repaint those and add afew scratches etc.

Definitely will, but its gonna be a long time from now. I'm not even gonna start customizing these guys until I have at least two of them (Egon in Dec).

By then though I should have a good idea exactly what parts I'm upgrading, etc, and it gives time to get the boots, belt, whatever all together.

In the mean time, I'm watching and taking notes. :)

It's all a matter of personal preference. The stock Mattel suit color looks closer to the light tan suits in GBII. Whatever floats your boat man.

Its amazing how just a few tweaks can go such a long way. Just a hit of gray on the suit and a little paint to the face make this figure look 100s of times better! Great work you guys!

Ironmann, have you thought of adding maybe a little bit of glow in the dark paint? Its a cool effect for slime. The ultimate 12'' ghostbuster gave me that tip.

For the suit, the hardcore fans seem to like a mix of ritt dye pearl gray and sometimes tan. Id love to see how the pack straps come out. I switched my straps with a set of dragons but, those things go for almost 30 bucks alone :O

Ok I'm throwing in my 2 cents worth. Heres my Ray.

He may not look it but I have done some customizing to him. I replaced the Mattel body with an Ace body because it is a little thicker than a tru type. I filled his belly and chest with 3-ply Tp. The elbow pad were twisted to make them look thinner and his boots were replaced with some cheap boots from a toys r us blue box figure. Also the head is made of soft plastic so I heated it up and pressed it down so it looked a little fatter.

Also, if you do end up dying the suit, be sure to prop up the collar when the suit is wet, and it will end up looking better as a result.

The elbow pads look significantly better with that little mod of twisting the elbow pad straps. I may cut the straps off of mine, and sow or glue some elastic straps to them.

yeah ithink afew ppl have said they will try that with elbow pads.

i mustadmit, that ray looks better too, hes got more of a gut hehe

He probably got tired waiting.

Just looking at matty's site and the ray figure is still there so all that clamour about it selling out in the first week now seems funny.

i knw i noticed that too, funny now looking back as we were all so desperate to get it thinking it would sell out but looks like we were all wrong hehe

:dance hi.....im the guy that started the thread.....im alive and digging these figures....im such a lurker on this board....i didnt pick up the 12 inch ray but ive got the 6 inch ray and egon. these figures rock. i want the 12 inchers but after i added the money together it would be like 160 a piece to customize them the way i wanted so im hoping hot toys gets the rights. anyhoo, back to your normal programming....

Just for those interested, the radio included is pretty damn accurate. I painted the silver edging on it and then took a photo of it with my real MT-500. Sorry the lighting kind of sucks.

Also there has been an update on my thread.

I got Ray today and immediately switched him to a spare BBI body I had. He is a complete piece of crap "as is," IMO. Now, just waiting for my custom head. . .and my sure to be pathetic attempt at a paint job.

Which custom head are you going to use?
