My rule. Never use couriers, USPS all the way. I think someone should email or link this thread to matty so they would know. It seems this complaint is not isolated to GB fans.

Absolutely, completely agree. Companies like UPS and Fedex charge ridiculous amounts for customs brokerage fees, on top of an already-inflated service charge. Oh, and if you're not home that one day they happen to show up with your delivery, you're driving all the way out to the nearest airport to pick up your package.

Regular post all the way.

I'd always go regular post but matty for some unknown reason don't give a tracking number and basically say if it gets lost its your problem. Otherwise i would have definetly gone post. But since both arrived safe to say the post passed the test so im going postal next time...:lol

Finally got mine through today (a good month after ordering i might add) and i had to pay an extra £15.21.....it does irk me a little that we get stung for import charges from matty, when almost every other company i've ordered from seems to be able to avoid those costs! A quick question to everyone here who has been stung, you all got it sent via post right? Just curious as i might just pay the extra next time to get it sent via courier, but only if i'm not gonna get stung again, for the price i've ended up paying, i could have got it cheaper on ebay, and that's saying something!

Canadian shipments were all handled by an outside contractor, and we were not given a choice as to our preferred shipping option. Knowing now that the 12-inchers don't sell out like the action figures, I'll probably use Ebay to get the remaining figures and save some cash.

It's the same with Sideshow shipments. Canadian orders are always shipped via Fedex, and that ends up costing a good $70 in duty fees on a $300 PF. If it wasn't for the exclusives, I'd definitely buy my Sideshow products from a Canadian retailer instead.

You guys are technichally wrong in something. customs fees are not payed to Matty. It's not their fault. It's the goberment of each country (customs dpt) that calculate the fee, suposely for import charges, cause you are buying something from the outside. If Matty took the work of putting "Old toys" or Spare parts on the package, you wouldn't have to pay. That's what i do when i order from Monkey Depoth, or One sixth depot. I never have to pay for fees and I order sometimes more than 80 dollars worth of parts.

Pretty much everything i get from other retailers overseas be it the usa or china has so far never left me with an import fee though, either i'm tremendously lucky or it's all in the way the packages are marked, and if this is the case, why don't matty take a leaf out of other companies books and mark the packages....gift, four letters that pretty much always guarantee it'll never attract any notice through customs. Anyway only a few hours till i finish work and can get ray out to have a look at him.

That's why I chose the only option other than courriers: Mail on the move (somehow, USPS, my favorite wasn't even an option!). It was a new one for me. As a result, looks like it's the same outcome as with couriers. It was txed by customs. As I said, so far, they seem to have forgotten me, but I'm afraid this is gonna be temporary...
I wonder why the hell they don't work with USPS! I'm starting to hate Matty! Those idiots make their products exclusive to their site (a stupid idea in the first place!) and they can't even make life easier for international buyers!

I'll buy those ghosbuster figs, then the Supes figs, then they can go to hell!

in all honesty, these ghostbusters figures has been the only reason ive visited mattys site. i prob wont bother with anything else they sell other than items frm the ghostbuster license.

cantwait to see egon up close tho, i want to see how detailed the pke is.

We're not complaining about where the money goes, what is bothering us is that the company that Matty is using for international shipments is inflating the value of the figures on the customs declaration form, making us pay a higher duty fee than if they indicated the true value of $60. It's like they're trying to take exchange rates into consideration, but are jacking up the percentage way beyond reality.

Case in point, my $60 figure had a declared value of $80, which is a 33% increase. But the Canadian dollar is trading at about 95 cents to the American dollar, so the real value adjusted for the exchange rate should have been $63, not $80.

mine arrived in the UK today. The customs sticker was marked as a $60 value and the boxed ticked as 'other' (as opposed to document, commerce, gift etc)

Thankfully no customs charge to pay. (bear in mind any time you buy ANYTHING from another country chances are your government should charge you customs or whatever... even when buying a few DVDs or something. So whilst I agree it's annoying being charged on an increased value that they wrote down... don't concentrate on the one that you got charged for.... be thankful for all the ones You get away with) ;)

Hey, i was watching on Ebay, and i saw a title saying EGON SPENGLER GB 12 inch BEST PAINT...and i sayed to myself Is it a custom paint job? But the figure is not out yet? So I clicked on the item and this guy says the following: THIS IS A PRE-ORDER

Congratz on getting your Stantz and not getting stung for any customs fees! I hate to hear these stories about people having to wait longer to get their figures and then getting hit with customs duties when they finally arrive! Sucks big time.

I wouldn't even consider having them shipped to Japan, the shipping alone would no doubt end up being more than the price of the figure! :monkey4

I opted to have mine sent to my stateside address and ended up only paying about $15 extra for shipping + state sales tax, but I won't get to see my figures till next summer!!!
Arrrrrrggggh!!! :taz
