Casino is a very good movie and a true story. Even that crazy beginning with the blown up car was true, it happened exactly as the movie tells it. Its about Stardust casino run by Lefty Rosenthal and the Chicago mob influence. Keep in mind that it focuses on a very small part of the mob in vegas.

Goodfellas, is a good story about the low level members mafia life. However, not entirely accurate. The person Ray Liotta is playing is named henry hill. In real life Henry hill was not anyone important, he was simply an errand guy. The man henry worked for was Jimmy Burke (robert deniro) and he was low level associate (not in the mafia). Neither Henry Hill nor Jimmy Burke were in the mafia, but the movie portrays them as if they were. Truth of it is that these guys were controlled by the mob.

I was different I saw all the classics before I hit the age of 10. Halloween, Godfather 1 & 2, Scarface (No idea how I pulled that one off) etc. I'm glad though, i've always been a Pacino fan and I think because of his style I overall love movies so much.

Keep in mind (Godfather virgins) these films are not like todays films ............ these have actual storylines and real acting. :D

Yep, right on, as many said on Pacino's work in Dog Day Afternoon. ''These were the days when big movie studios, hired comparitively small 'nobody' actors for their talent and not their look or status, and paid them accordingly. These movies could not be made today''
Which i've always thought was so damned true on all accounts. Also, many of the actors of these groundbreaking performances were paid peanuts compared to today.
Pacino especially, to me, he's always been just a purely passionate actor, and not a passionate celebritiy actor, if you will. Like Andy Garcia said about him, it's just about his dedication to the work. He's always had that own, unique, gritty, realistic, well done yet subtle fieryness style to his work which just oozes out every time he's on screen back in these movies. Now, although granted, not so much, it is still there.

narc is a corrupt cop drama. it's another subgenre altogether, not at all a gangster film. films like narc are made more often nowadays(training day, pride & glory, street kings, we own the night, etc), almost replacing the gangster films it seems as the current hot new trend of the crime genre.

for gangsters, look to the past. here are the best of the best:
godfather 2
godfather 1
scarface
goodfellas
casino
carlito's way

and i'm sure i miss a few black and white films as well.

and "Once Upon a Time in America" :rock that was next to Godfather my favorite... De Niro rocks dude :)

watched the godfather again last night. Not done for years.
Such a good movie. I still don't feel like I want a figure the don though... :huh
and I don't know why..

i'm with you bro. not sure why either - maybe just because as much as I love the movie, it's "up there" in my favorite films.

it is such a gorgeous figure though... which makes this decision so hard.

Not be an a$$, but Once Upon A time in america, really sucked in my opinon. The beginning looks interesting, but it ends up being a long boring movie.

yep , watching it again recentley was like watching the hot toys figure walk and talk. I'm still undecided.
It is a brilliant movie like I said but personally ... I don't feel anything for it emotionally like I do other movies.
I'm not sure why that is really too. Always been a strange watch for me the Godfather.

I never wanted a Vito figure either, i mean, it's pretty random having Marlon Brando as the Don on your shelf i reckon, but how can anyone say no? The movie is fantastic, the figure, just an absolute work of art, and it seems to be the epitome of 1/6th quality. Hell, i'm sold. As soon as i saw it, i knew it was a must have. But i won't have the emotional attachment either, like i do with something like the Heath Joker

the don on his own might look kinda funny on a shelf with iron men and batmen and predators etc. but if HT were to flesh out the line a little i think it wouldn't look as strange display wise. i'm sure a lot of us are dying to see a michael corleone to go with vito. i'd also buy a de niro vito, a tom hagen, even a connie (coz you know they could reuse the sculpt for an adrian :D)

Hot Toys made us a figure we couldn't refuse :lol

I could only wish to see a young Michael and young Vito. That would be dynamite. They just need a damn Pacino and Deniro likeness already, I just can't see HT's venturing this license any further than Brando.

those pics are just sick!! and the chair....:google has anyone done anything even close to that before? to be honest I don't even remember if I ever watched the whole movie either..:monkey3 if I did it's been a long time ago..the Don rivals anything TDK put out...btw..HT has my nuts and won't give them back until I buy this figure..:lol

if you were just collecting figures of movie icons then this figure is one you must own. and if you just collect it because you like the movie, then it's still a must own. regardless the reason this is a must have figure :D

batman, ironman, pred, termie... those are easy to like. we are geeks after all. but this... this is the test to see if you are a movie buff, or if you are just a geek. do you just see an old fat man in plain boring clothes, or do you see brando, the actor who path the way for method acting, forever changing the game for all actors to come, in the #2 best film of all time(according to AFI's list)?

for a movie buff, it's a no brainer. especially since it's made this good.

He'll look great next to my Kubrick stuff, Alex, Jack, and Hartman.

Can't we be both? :D
