Funny, I didnt see Maxipad Lapierre talking smack to anyone tonight..

Finals should be a good one

I thought we had a great chance at tying in the third... Yeesh. We're never going to win with just one centre coming to play. Plekanec didn't get a single point in this series... Flyers deserved it more. End of story.

So it there more depth to this thread other than simply saying "Habs suck" and "Flyers rule" type posts...?? Anyone open to discussing what the Habs should do during the off season?

As much fun as trash talk can be, it's more interesting to actually talk hockey here too.

Speaking of talking hockey lets lay it out. I don't want to think about it but EVEN if the Flyers lose I will tip my hat to them. Lets see what all they have overcome. This is just some key moments:

-Coaching change mid season!

-Losing the winter classic to Boston! (Although we made them pay!)

-4 different goalies!

-A shootout to get into the playoffs!

-One of their best D players and their best O player goes down in the first round.

-Come back from a 3-0 series to win it against Boston

Oh my there is so much more and I'm too excited to even think of it all. I was almost in tears watching LA P block those shots tonight after all that he has been through. What a team effort this whole season!

Fixed that

Im all game, how do the Habs better themselves so they arent struggling for 8th again?

Try and package the Tits sisters and move Price, and if they can trade Markov to Washington. Moving AK46 frees up money to resign Turlte Plex, he may have been a no show but i think that was more of the Martin system then his play

Im no Flyers fan, but Ill give credit where it is due and the Flyers deserve some credit for where they are

(Wish I could find taht post where I predicted theyd win the east)

You're right. The Flyers did overcome some obstacles and they should be commended for that.
As should the Habs.

This year, the Habs changed ownership, changed coaches, literally changed half their team roster (which never happens in the NHL), and changed general managers in the mid season. They also never really played any stretch of time injury-free throughout the season. During the playoffs, they beat both the president's trophy winners and last year's stanley cup winners in two thrilling seven game series, both of which where they faced a combined 5 elimination games and won. Say what you want about the Habs, they accomplished big time this year and deserve a major thumbs up as NO ONE expected much from them this year. I, for one, had a great time watching their post season play.

Moving forward, I think this team needs more character players and less flashy forwards like the Kotstisyns and yes, even Plekanec. While I would love to keep Plecanec, I don't think he is worth the 6 million a team like Anaheim or Dallas might be prepared to offer him. I would send Pouliot to Hockey school summer camp. The Habs also need size and grit because when push comes to shove, Cammy and Gionta can be expected to shoulder as much of the scoring burden as they did in these playoffs. I believe those two players actually scored half the team's goals during the entire playoffs. While I'm a bit wishy washy on the Markov issue, ultimately I think we need to keep him in order to maintain some stability on defence. Subban definitely needs a mentor and who better than Markov? It's also time for the Habs to finally name a Captain.

I agree on Price. I think it's time to test the market and see if we could get a good second line center.

All in all, I'm very proud of my Habs.

On to the Finals!

Lock up their hot goalie long term (don't follow habs, have no idea if he is or not), get rid of the big no shows, and add some reliable firepower up front that can be supported by the core they have.

For Flyers, as much as I love Leighton right now, he's the main aspect that makes me nervous going into the final. Hopefully he shows up huge (usually does in big games it seems so far) and the D continue to be as awesome as they have been :rock

Halak is a RFA... It should be interesting.

I have the same concerns about Leighton. I don't think he was really tested in this series. In the one game the Habs actually showed up to play, he seemed exposed as a goalie. The Flyers are now facing a team with far more to prove than the Habs, far more scorings options, with more speed up front and back, and who isn't scared of getting really physical and ugly to create chances.

If the Flyers stay healthy and tighten some things up in the neureal zone, this should make for a very fun series. While the Hawks are favored to win this series, the Flyers still have a chance.

Not to call it a day, but I think this is the Hawks' Cup to win. At this point I don't give a damn.

Although there are 3 Winnipeg born players on Chicago, so they would bring the Cup here if they win the Championship. Interestingly enough those 3 are the Captain and two Alternates. lol

Winnipeg blood FTW! :yess: :rock
