so most of the goalies in the NHL have gone over to white pads over the past few seasons (which if I recall correctly was thanks to an Ottawa eye doctor sending a letter to MAF regarding his gear) except for Marty Turco who gets his second start in the brightest yellow pads I think I have ever seen!!!

Yup...the doctor said that the yellow pads made it very easy for the shooters to see where the openings were. The white pads blended with the ice and didn't make it as obvious. I know this story to be accurate.

But in Fleury's defence, I believe it's more due to the Pens system evolving as well as his game on an individual level.

:lecture x a million

I feel ya dude

You two need to get over it. Not like I had to see teams I despise win Cups or have great seasons minus the Cup. But I can safely say that this season has been nice to me, so far. Granted it did take the life away of two of my past favs... Rick Rypien and to a lesser degree, Pavol Demitra. God rest their souls.

Well now it's my turn to not be happy about it. :pfft:

Calder - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Norris - Shea Weber
Vezina - Queen Henrik
Hart - Malkin
Lindsay - Malkin
Adams - Kevin Dineen
Selke - Patrice Bergeron (total homer pick)
Byng - Brad Marchand:wink1:

btw How about that Fleury?

Meh...he's better than their new rookie.....for now. Didn't like how he was caught outside his net last night for that first goal. Hope he doesn't let that happen in the playoffs. If he wins another Cup, i'll take back every bad thing i ever said about him.

Good to see that the real Fleury has arrived just in time for the playoffs. My favorites were the Islanders 2nd and 3rd goals. Fleury should patent that move. It's the same everytime. Oppenent crosses the blue line, winds up, and shoots and an unscreened Fleury looks like he has a full 5 gallon water pail tied to his glove hand as he tries to get his glove up and fails miserably.

Spoke to soon?? Havent seen the highlights as I just got in, maybe teh D left him out to dry, and I hope so, cuz this wasnt a game to lay a stinker, first place is in a our grasp and our goaltending goes to ____

Like i said. Check out the Islanders 2nd and 3rd goals. Same ol' Fleury. Unscreened and high glove side.

Lame. A couple bad games and he gets his typical OCD haters on his back, but when he played an amazing bunch of games during the 12 game win streak and was arguably the best goalie in the NHL during that time frame, (the best hockey league in the world), you guys didn't go on about how amazing he was playing. It's bull____.

You may think I kiss his ass, but you're a bunch of trolls. I will admit he played poorly. Downright awful. Every goalie has those awful games. Your Sawchuks, Halls, Drydens, Roys, Brodeurs, Thomas', and Lundqvists. I can admit and be mindful of that. Just wished you would do the same. Haters gonna hate, no matter what.

And he can follow it up with a shutout. Case in point: Cam Ward followed up a 4-2 blown lead to the Wings by being lit up 3 more times for a total of 5 goals. The next game he starts, he gets a goose egg.

For you American hockey fans a goose egg = a shutout. ;) :nana:

Yes, same old Fleury who is also one of the most athletic goalies out there. And has an amazing glove hand. A true Penguins fan would know this, and also know he's been right up there with Malkin for MVP of the team. :cuckoo:

Sorry Eli. When I think great goalies, Fleury NEVER pops into my head.

And hey, by the logic going around here, Stamkos went 4 games without a point. Why didn't I say he lost his scoring touch and is ____?! Dayum! Then he scored 5 goals in his following 4 games. I sure would look bad... Oh boy, it's a good thing I did not go there.

That's nice DP. His season, and past seasons were he took us to two Cup Finals, and one which was a Cup really doesn't make me give a damn what you think of his game. :)

I have been quite happy with his history as a Pen. Do I think he's the best goalie in the league? Nope. 5 years ago that distinction belonged to Brodeur. Now it belongs to Hank.
