So do you think the Molsons will go along with the circus of having Roy as GM? The others I heard rumored were Julien Brisebois and Pierre McGuire.

Well, if you listen to the French media, you would think that there isn't a single qualified GM on the planet for the Habs other than those with a French sounding name. Anything sounding even remotely anglo, regardless of experience, is squashed... They would support a GM with zero experience over a former GM with Stanley Cup experience, even if he's fluently bilingual. Sometimes it is utter insanity living in Quebec and having to deal with this "pure blood only" nonsense. The xenophobia is so in your face, you actually have to do a double-take because it is so hard to believe that it actually exists to this degree...

Unless it's a former Hab, they're likely going to go with a French guy. Sadly, experience and vision of a future will most likely take a backseat. The media controls so much in Quebec. They get people so riled up with their fear mongering of Anglos secretly conspiring to take away all of their rights and opportunities... Arrrgh. As a fluently bilingual Quebecois myself, there's little that infuriates me more than this backdoor political BS.

Anyhoo, while there certainly are some decent French candidates, there are many many more viable Anglo candidates who just so happen to speak French as well, e.g. Pierre Maguire. I would love to see the French media offer up one candidate who is even half as connected or as knowledgable about hockey related things as Maguire.

Ive heard from someone that know Molson, that Mcguire has no chance, he cant stand him. Lets see if that is true

My money is on Brisebois as GM and Roy as coach

Anyone hear Serge Savard on 990? What an idiot

If that's true about Maguire, thats a shame. Then again, it sounds very heresay so I wouldn't put that much weight to it. Molson seems to have no opinion of anything unless he's told of one. I'm wondering if there is a less qualified president in the NHL. The Brisebois and Roy choosing wouldn't surprise me. However, Roy will be like rolling thunder. He takes up looooooooooooooooooots of space.

Savard is nearly 70. Give him a break... lol.
How did you expect him to come off?

I still see the Pens taking the cup. While teams may beat them once or twice, winning 4 games out of 7 is a completely different thing. The fact that fans can celebrate these single game victories over the Pens only further serves to supports the idea that the Pens are perhaps the most respected, perhaps even most feared, team in the league. I don't think anyone wants to play them in the playoffs. Their offence is staggering.

Fleury may not be Roy, however, he is proven. He has shown up in the big games before. Also, it's not like there's pressure on Fleury to have a shutout every night. This type of goalie is tailor made for the Pens offence.

P.S. Habs for first overall pick! Let's just hope the Russian they pick doesn't choose to play in the KHL instead for more money, thus wasting the pick and the disastrous year.

Pretty sure the Flyers played the Pens 5 times this year. They won 4 times. You couldn't buy a clue.

Yeah I just vomited...A LOT... after reading this.

Question A). What are you referencing when you say "fans"? The SSF who post here???

Question B). I'm pretty sure the Bruins won't be afraid to defend against them. Sorry about your Habs...better luck..uhhh next year? ("year" = until the Bruins put them out of the playsoff once again)

This is correct. They have played 5 games so far, and will play a total of six. One game remains. Even if risingstar got his numbers wrong, he is correcto mundo about the rest. Their offence is staggering. Their top three lines could be certain teams No. 1 line. Yes, that even goes for their third line. They have guys having career years in Duper (that's Pascal Dupuis for those out of the know), who has 56 points on the season, and guys like Cooke who of late have generated a ton of offence for their team scoring almost at a goal-per-game clip. And those are your depth guys that nobody would imagine have the seasons they are having. I shouldn't have to bring up your Malkins, Crosbys, Neals, and Staals. Their level of talent and production this season is self explanatory.

When people get excited for winning those one games against a team like Pittsburgh and gloat about it, that DOES say something. That they are the BIG wins that measure their team's own success. That's not just felt here, but on other hockey threads/forums (I am a poster on HF forums) and at the hockey games (Jets season ticket holder). I seen my team beat the Pens (my other team) and see the reaction of how excited those fans get at those games when it happens. You think you see the same gloating and positive reaction when a fan's favorite team beats some Florida or Carolina? Heck no!

So stop getting your knickers in a knot. Do you really want your team to match up against the Pens in the playoffs? You don't think things will be different in the post season? No fear? I would hate to play the Flyers, Bruins, and Rangers as a Pens fan. At least I can man up and admit to that, and that's not suggesting they can't beat those teams. Just saying those are the three most dangerous teams (aside from Pittsburgh) in the East, in my opinion.

I just know in the past that certain teams have had our nunber in the regular season like your Washingtons and Philadelphias, and with those wins came the follow-up gloating and ignorant naive banter of fans like your Kit Fistos, Bumblebees, Badmoons, and Ringers. Then the playoffs would come along and prove to be an entirely different animal. You can have your regular series win, but in the end of the day, the playoffs matter and within the past 5 years or so, my Pens have done some serious damage to your Caps and Flyers in the post season. I see that trend continuing.

They play hard, cant take that away

Pens D and goaltending, yes Eli Fleury hasnt been playing great, need to step up

I admit he hasn't played great lately. None of the Pens goalies have. I don't know if it has to do with Letang going down or the simple fact our guys have been downright miserable between the pipes. But you throw away these past few games for Fleury and he has been a top 5 goalie all year.

That counts for something! In the end, I am not worried or bothered. We're playoff bound and we have had a great season! We can still collect a few more wins, yet! So all is not lost! Just kind of blows we lost the last two games against the Isles when those should have been gimmies.

If Pittsburgh wants to win a Stanley Cup, they need to be at full health and have all their main components intact. Losing a Dustin Jeffrey or Craig Adams is survivable and one thing, but losing a Crosby, Malkin, Neal, and/or Letang is another. Those 4, along with Fleury are our flapship players and will dictate whether we're a Cup team or not this season. Any true Pens fan knows if we lost MAF into the playoffs would mark a certain end to that potential party. To suggest otherwise would be pure ignorance on their part, and would be dismissing history itself!

Playoffs is a different season all together where these stats means jack... It happens every year. Two completely different breeds of hockey.

You echoed what I said in an aforementioned post. :)

And why I am okay with the Pens losing a regular season series to the Flyers. It's happened before, and history dictates that when a Pens team loses a regular series tilt, they make up for it in the playoffs. I rather my team win a playoff series vs. a regular season series.

I'm thinking of the Ottawa Senators a few years back too. Had a great regular season and tanked in the first round on a couple occasions.

Plus don't forget...most of the European players forget to show up in the playoffs.
