He's no worse than 95% of hockey players! He's just the sports biggest star, so he's criticized for wiping his nose too aggressively on the bench! Yeah, he does stuff to get under people's skin, but he's not out there trying to end other players seasons.

I can agree with that to an extent, but he also gets away with a lot more ( as do other stars ).

I've always tacked smack about ____sburg, so get your facts straight you inbreed hick.

I'm not the one talking tough there internet ninja. You're just an immature little classless punk who talks tough behind a keyboard, because you're too much of a _____ to stand up to anyone in the real world. Like I said, classless little _____.

The game was just fine without Crosby while he was out for how long? The "game" does not NEED Crosby in any way, shape or form.

I don't want to see his career ended, but the game doesn't need him and his cheap shots and baby behavior ( swatting away someones glove when they try to pick it up ) is eventually going to cost him.

The NHL needs him more than you think. Normally I have not disagreed with you on too many things, but on this... WOW!

The NHL needs the super talented offensive and defensive player that Crosby is, yes, he has a great defensive game, that is overshadowed by his insane offence. Then again, with an insane offence, you spend so much time in the other team's zone when you have the puck, you're playing great defence with his great keep-away and puck possession skills. It ticks time off the clock which otherwise could see the opposition in our end.

Point is, the cheap BS like punching a guy in the back of the head, like Rinaldo's back to him, being detained by another Pens player, (keep in mind the guy had his helmet on, it does less damage), but is still very unacceptable. That is the Crosby we don't need. But to say the NHL does not NEED Crosby, is not only short sighted, but your opinion. An opinion shared by few. You're speaking for yourself. The media, millions of fans, even those who don't care for him, like having him in the league. You need that player to either love or despise. And while he may do things that tick you off, many players do. It comes with not only this sport, but every other sport played by man. If we didn't have the players we despised, then the league would be pretty ____ing boring if we loved everyone and was all rainbows and butterflies. I despise Ovechkin's knee-on-knee hits, his shenanigans, and the way he celebrated his goals... found it a tad bit cheapish... in poor taste. My opinion, but I like having him in the league. I also hated Eric Lindros, but miss him when he was dominate. You always need that kind of player to hate. It makes it all that more rewarding when your favorite team beats him. I loved when Detroit owned his sorry ass in the 1997 Playoffs. I loved how Konstantinov was his shadow in those Finals and reduced him to one measly point! So effective! Why I am Mr. Hockey (grins at BadMoon), cause I remember even those lil' stats that are long forgotten. Point is, we need these guys we hate, because it makes for more exciting hockey when you see them fall.

P.S. I only would like to see one player retire... Chris Pronger... he's a head hunter and uses his elbows far too often. The amount of careers and health problems this guy is gonna cause for players lives down the road, is unfathomable. You want a player out of the game, not injured... just to be tossed out.. Pronger. Even then I would miss seeing someone put him on his ass! On their ass and being put on a stretcher are two different things.

Oh yeah, just like any star in any sport does. Professional sports leagues protect their cash cows, but I can't think of any instance the guy intentionally tried to end a season or career. I can't stand anyone on Philly, but Asham's retaliation was way too excessive and cheap. Throw your gloves off and deck him, fine, but I don't wish that on anyone.

Yeah your righ smart guy, when I was in the Corp I did all my fighting behind a keyboard.

Wow what Eli? The NHL was fine before Crosby ever came along and will be fine after he's gone. No ONE player is ever bigger than the game. If the game can lose Gretzky and Lemieux and still survive it will be just fine without Crosby.

What, even the Navy's little ship-mates need cooks and people to fold laundry. But seeing the pathetic crap you post on here, I'd say that was probably too tough for even the likes of you.

I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee, won't my mommy be so proud of me ....

It's still a big hit! And yes, we know the NHL can live without the best player in the game, but we're talking about a kid who still dominates the NHL at age 24 and two guys who retired at the end of their careers. One was 41 and the other was 39. Both were not even a shell of their former selves. Crosby's point-per-game average continues to climb, and he's in his prime. Huge difference buddy when you're talking about guys who have had long storied careers and one guy is 24, and still destroying other NHL teams on a nightly basis, minus the Flyers in this series. Ha!

But really, ____ING horrible comparison dude.

Navy :lol try the Marine Corp loser but you don't strike me as someone with the guts or nerve to make the cut as the best of the best. So go back to what you do best and talk Internet smack. We real men will be defending your right to be a prick.

No, it's not. At the end or in the middle, when you're among the biggest in the game you're among the biggest.

The NHL wouldn't suffer if Crosby retired tomorrow. Maybe a few 10 year olds wouldn't ask mom for a Crosby jersey for Christmas, but the game would be just fine just as it is when ANY player leaves the game for whatever reason.

You know darn well that's true and you're overvaluing ONE player over an entire league and it's fans. The NHL doesn't exist because of Crosby and won't have a problem if he left the game either.

The NHL milked those two ____ing superstars for two decades and got what they needed... Crosby is the biggest money making player... even more than those two. He is tops in jersey sales, marketing... losing a player that dominate, a guy who is far ahead of everyone in point-per-game average since the 2005 Lock out is a much bigger hit than you think. What a ridiculous comment and comparison... the NHL can survive without him? Yes, but they lose a lot of money by not having Sid. Advertisers still see him as a great wholesome kid who sells the NHL in a positive light... just watch the TV, look at the magazines... who's in 90 percent of those player ads? No. 87. Give your head a shake. You're in a very small circle of people with this one when it comes to your opinion on this, Kit. You're entitled to it. But it's just, one that not many agree with.

Please, the toughest Marines I ever met never bragged about being in it. The ones that had to remind people they were in the Marines were the sissies. Well, much like Internet gangsters like yourself. And way to feed into the notion Marines are stupid. There's a reason the Navy signs their paychecks. Or wait, do you serve in the new, soft Marines that only ever paid electronically? Yeah, the military used to give us actual checks. I'd say get out of your mom's basement and go enjoy the weather, but it's a tough world out there with no footy jammys on. Just eat your cookies and milk, junior.

I know you won't agree Eli because you're a Pens fan so Crosby IS the game to you. Sorry, but that's just not the case. You are acting as if he left then the NHL would have to fold it's doors up or they would "barely survive" if he left. You either know that's not true or you're totally deluded.

Crosby is helping to bring the NHL the noteriety it's shooting for. His absence would be a huge blow, but they'd bounce back. They've been around forever and aren't going anywhere.

Real tough guy huh, calling Marines soft over the safety of the Internet. Wow dude you really are a total loser. I'd me more then happy to meet you anywhere, anytime.

I love you. I sincerely do. We have had great discussions and I found out you're a guy who I could hang with when we talked on the phone. But you're so wrong on this... I mean the comparison. Those two had huge careers that spanned for 20 years. They hung it up on their terms. Old age and their bodies not being as fast, agile, and strong as they were in their late 20's. They weren't top 20 in scoring or had the best point-per-game averages in the league at the time. They were around .90. Still great, but not their usual 2.00 something best.

Crosby is just heating up. He has 103 points in his past 63 games. Nobody has played at that clip since the NHL lock out. Not since 2000/01, Mario's great comeback year! It's a very BAD comparison. I never seen a guy retire or be forced out of the game dominating the game the way Sid has, at his age. Lemieux was 32 when he originally retired back in 1997. Many felt he had made a premature decision. It would later proven to be a correct notion as he would come back 3-and-a-half years later, to wreak havoc on NHL teams scoring 76 points in 43 games.
