Somewhat true, but it is still funny knowing the last time the flyers won the cup 8 track tapes were the norm... :lol

Man, Phx looks like they're just struggling to keep their heads above water! LA is just having their way with them! Quick was awesome in that game.

I was rather enjoying when they would show Phx's coach after they did something stupid. Anyone else notice that redhead seated right behind him with the low-cut, lacy tank-top on? She was definitely pleasant to look at. :naughty

Now let's see if the Devils are going to make a series out of this other one.

To the guys arguing over cups. No of US has even won one. Don't refer to a sports team as "we". We are just fans.

Agreed about saying "we" when referring to sports teams. I never saw a problem with saying "my team" "my boys" or something to those sorts, seeing as how the fans money spent on merchandise and tickets, and us viewing the programs drawing in advertisement deals, pays everyone in these pro-sports leagues, but saying "we" is asinine. Not a damned one of us went onto the field, ice, court or whatever, and helped them win a damn thing!!!

Not true. Sports fans fuel these teams. These teams do not exist without fan support.

Fans are the sixth man (skater), or seventh if you count goalie. That's why in many cases teams play better in their own buildings.

When was the last time a team hoisted the Cup on their home ice? :dunno

I dunno, I just think home-ice is overrated. LA is sound proof of that right now.

*- Also, if teams suck they have not even half full stadiums, but if they turn it around by the end of a season and scrape into the play-offs, more of those seats will fill, and if they are the Cinderella story then in the Conference Finals they're in sold out stadiums. The vast majority of fans are only loyal if the team is playing well. And if you follow the NFL, the Cleveland Browns have one of the most loyal fan bases in American sports, but that team has sucked since their team inception was carved into the Bedrock Times for Fred Flinstone to read about, and they suck in front of a rowdy, supportive crowd every week.

Fans my fill the players and owners pockets, but It's not "we". Is your name on the cup if "we" won it? Do you get a day with it? Do you have access to players and team officials? Do they issue you a game sweater?

It's not "we". It's "my favorite team is"....

Also, fans act like "I personally beat you" if the team I like beat the team you like. Hardly..........the team you like won, Congrats, but you didn't beat me at anything.

MLSE,Bell,Rogers and Ontario Teachers Union own the Leafs,Raptors and TFC..they can say "we", i as a fan like to say "our team" as in our city.

I guess it doesn't really matter in essence though, just i think it sounds really dumb if you say..err live in Winnipeg or Montreal and say "we" for the Penguins lol, "we fans of the ____" sounds better. :p

"were 4-0 so far" ok there buddy..it kinda irks me like when you go into a take out resturant or coffee shop etc.. and you get that guy(fat guy usually) that says when ordering "hey boss"..errr irks the ____ right out of me for some reason.

Mind you, this is all subliminal, doesn't really bother me as much as i just described. :p

You're a funny one. Very good, you have made examples of things that aren't the norm. I choose to look at things with a broader lens, then that. I'll get back to you and Kit later. This conversation is far from over.

btw I wonder why sports teams play for home ice/field advantage? I don't know why? I am puzzled and perplexed by this. :cuckoo: :lol

Edit: That's like the smoker who says, I don't have to quit. George Burns smoked all his life and he lived to be a 100. Yeah, because he's 1 of 10 that beat the odds, he's a good example of why not to quit. btw That ____ pisses me off, because I just met another person who has type 4 Cancer in their lungs, and the doctors have said it is attributed to lung Cancer. Not all smokers get lung Cancer, but all smokes do damage their lungs in some shape, way, or form. They have physical health issues whether they believe it or not. Cups have been won on home ice, and if you look at win records by franchises over their life span... home vs. away, you'll see, straight across the board, the home record is always better than the away.

They play for the home advantage to get last change or last at bat and so on. That's about all home field is good for in most cases.

Hey Kit, I thought you were done with hockey. :dunno

Was waiting for that comment. Until George McPhee is no longer the GM of the Caps I am done even resembling passionate. I'll score check and see where they are, but I'm boycotting "die-hard" status until he's gone.....or we win a cup :hi5:
