I agree on Savard. Still feel bad for him on how things ended.

Those early 90s Bruins should have come up with a Cup. 1991 was the year I thought they'd do it, but things went south after Ulf Samuelsson hit Neely in game 3 of the Wales final after the Bruins had gone up 2-0 in the series.

Neely still managed to score 50 goals in 50 games after that hit, but you're right in that he never quite came back the same and he missed a lot of games and often needed to have his knee drained. I can only imagine the career he would have had if not for that Samuelsson hit. This guy defined the modern era of the power forward. He was very tough to play against and wasn't afraid of any one. Neely is actually one of my all time favorite players.

Hes to young and to driven to retire, he will be back in April

Honestly I hope he takes the money he made and hang it up. It's a sad story. Life is not worth a game. If he is cleared fine. Let him play. If it was me personally, no game is worth the risk of long term damage. I really dislike the Pens as a Flyers fan. That said Crosby is great guy. I would hate to see him ruin his life over a bad decision to push himself. There is no shame in this. He is and always will be one of the greats of the NHL.

Exactly! Doesn't mean that he has to retire COMPLETELY from the NHL...he just won't be on the ice. If he does retire, then chances are he will have a fat job with the Pens front office.

Classy post BadMoon. For this you may share the title that I have bestowed upon myself. Grand Commander Master of Hockey Knowledge and King and Ruler of this thread and its posters. :exactly:

Our Pens well. They are on a win streak and in a playoff position.

Booyeah!

I'll make you a deal. If the Pens make the Stanley Cup finals, I'll buy tickets and personally take you to a home game.

However, if the Leafs make the Stanley Cup finals, you buy the tickets and take me to a home game :D

Deal? :dance

Reimer went down too early and let in one bad goal over his left shoulder, Kessel setup Lupul for a nice one and Lombardi was flying out there again and got a goal. Anderson for the Sens wasn't spectacular but, i think 39 saves for him and the Spezza goal while leaning on Reimer i thought was pretty lame, Phaneuf fighting Foligno after Foligno tried some dirty Marchand ____.

Leafs were the better team again on the ice and apparently haven't gave up a goal while short handed in 7 games, they get lots of shots but, they need to start getting dirty goals.

About time someone dropped the gloves, kudos to Phaneuf then. I already miss Colton Orr since Mike Brown hasn't fought yet since he has returned :(

There was a scrum in front of Reimer in the second i think and i thought he was almost going to giver on Chris Neil i think it was or Foligno.

The guy is 27 and has kept us in a lot of important games. Until he gives us a reason to get rid of him, I am okay with keeping him. Yeah, so he slumps with the rest of the team for a string of games this season and we're out for the guy's head? Be realistic. Dany Heatley he is not. And I hardly call either of those guys a flash in a pan.

Flash in a pan players are Ken Hodge Jr, Kevin Todd, Daniel Marios, Gary Leeman (to a lesser extent), Jim Carey, and Andrew Raycroft.

you forgot Blaine Lacher

Im just glad Savard got his name on the Cup. Very much deserved. He is one of my favorite All-Time Bruins.

Love Bourque, Neely, Oates, Moog, Sweeney, we had a lot of great players for a long time. Amazing they never won a Cup during those years, but Gretzky, Messier, Lemieux, Roy, Yzerman, and Brodeur got in the way for a long long time. I was very bizarre that Bourque went to Colorado to get a Cup. But I don't hold it against him. He deserved it. He played the game right, and was a model citizen on and off the ice. Someone you always rooted for. Just a great great player, probably even a nicer person.

I used to like Pitt during the Lemieux years. Loved Mario Lemieux. He was just incredible to watch play. Man, if he didnt get hurt and sick, no telling what his numbers would of been. Might not of caught Gretzky, but probably would of been 2nd in everything. I even had a Lemieux jersey when i was a kid because I thought he was such a great player. Those 90s Pitt teams were like a machine.

Bob or Don?? :lol

remember him :)

believe it or not he was in my dealership a few months back..i believe he works for an ad company now but I can't remember

[b}Pete Peters was my original favorite when i was a little kid. I even had a Jersey of him.[/b] I was really small at the time :) Barely knew anything about hockey....But then he was traded. So of course Bourque became my favorite.

Patrice Bergeron is my favorite Bruin now. Huge fan of him. Great underrated player who plays both sides of the puck just about as good as anyone.

I still think Bobby Orr was the best hockey player ever. I know others argue Gretzky, Lemieux, but Orr was so far ahead of anyone especially for a defenseman and played the game tough. I never saw him play though since I wasnt born then. Just seen many documentaries, highlights and read a lot about him and of course things my Dad tells me.

Pete Peters a former Vezina winner and goalie coach pioneer. One of the very first in his field. Nice!

I too caught Pete Peters at the tail end of his career and enjoyed him as a player.
