colorado beats minnesota 2-1 tonight and wins the series in 6. i know my avs.

Gaborik was a no show. This was one of those series that could have went either way IMO. Forsberg had almost a point per game, decent, but I don't think he was a powerhouse for them. Maybe he's just getting warmed up, we'll find out next round.... :peace

actually it went 6 games in colorado's favor. if you watched the series, you would have seen colorado's special teams do very well, forsberg & sakic in playoff form as predicted, jose theodore back to vezina and mvp form, and adam foote completely shutting gaborik down. one point in 6 games...how sweet it is.

You all WISH Ovechkin played on your favorite team.

Not mine! I think that the Penguins can only say that.. don't get me wrong. It's not that he is a Capital, and I do think he is one of the best players in the game. But 1) My Pens don't have the cap room and 2) My Pens already have Crosby and Malkin. :D

not colorado either. there is a dramatic difference in the way teams play in the eastern conference compared to the western conference. the east seems to be a little more free wheeling while the west seems to be more defensive. i wonder if ovechkin would do as well if he played in a western division. could you imagine him playing dallas, san jose and anaheim 8 times a year?

I have to laugh...I really do. Anyone who would not want arguably the best player in the NHL on their team is either crazy or a liar :lol

I loath Crosby, but if I had a chance to see him on the Caps of course I'd take him. Making your team better is a good thing people and adding GREAT players makes your team better once they gel. Ovechkin would fit in anywhere.

i don't wish ovechkin could play on colorado. the cost to get him to play there would be too great. now if he was still a draft pick and colorado got him that way, it would be a no-brainer. but i'm happy with the current av roster. ovechkin's points per game is 0.8 against the east and 0.5 against the west. but ovechkin's goals are 37% of washington's scoring. whoa. seems to me the way to beat washington is to concentrate on ovechkin. shut him down and you'll be in the driver's seat.

tyler, I don't mean you want to trade half your team for him. I mean any team in the NHL would want him if they could get him for a decent price in terms of what you would have to give up. Say he wanted out of Washington and refused to play here. Every team in he NHL would line up to see if they could get him.

As for OV scoring 37% of Washington's goals....not his fault. Semin had an off year and the rest of the team needs to pick it up. That has ZERO to do with Ovechkin's talent.

a 65 goal scorer would be welcome on any team for sure. i think he's better than malkin and crosby. the point i was making about the percentage of team scoring, how long will ovechkin play on a team with lack of scoring support? even in the first round against philly, it's obvious that the team needs more than one superstar.

Ovechkin will have more scoring support. Semin is 35 goal man, but he was dealing with a bum ankle the first month of the season. Backstrom will be a 20-25 goal man as he matures as a playmaker. Mike Green lead all defensemen with 18 goals and Brooks Liach put in 20 as well.

Remember, the Caps are a VERY young team. OV is 22, Backstrom is 20, Green is 22, Semin is 24, Liach is 24. They have several other young players as well an even most of the "vets" on the team are late 20's/early 30's. They are a young team that is growing up together.

Ovechkin IS the best player in the NHL, no question. Sidney who? :lol Just kidding, Sid the kid is amazing but also AMAZINGLY overhyped imo, when he fell to injury Malkin stood in and not only carried the team but made Pittsburgh a force in the east. Hence the team was just as good without Crosby.

Crazy? no
Liar? no
Realist? Absolutely!

If my Pens didn't have Evgeni Malkin then I would definitely love Alexander Ovechkin to be on the team. If there was no such thing as Cap space, and he was made available to us... then obviously, yes! Of course I would love to have Ovechkin.. but why stop there? I would also love to have Ryan Getzlaf, Dion Phaneuf, and Martin Brodeur then.

But the way my Penguins team is built and the available cap space they have... or lack of when they sign Malkin to a huge deal... then follow that signing up by either inking Marian Hossa, and upgrading Jordan Staal's contract... HECK NO!

We already have the best playmaker in the game today, and I believe Malkin could be every bit as good as Ovechkin, which he proved when Crosby went down with an injury. He scored 20 goals and 41 points in a 21 game span without Sid the Kid, or any Hossa in the lineup...

The fact that Ovechkin's English is much more profound and fine tuned than Malkin's gives your Cap an edge. Once Malkin better adapts to the English language, and can better communicate with his teammates because of it, his numbers will soar even higher. Remember, he started the season playing second fiddle to Sidney, and was lost at times, because if you can't communicate with your linemates on and off the ice, your play is going to be somewhat stagnant. Thus his 11 goals in his first 33 games. Would love to see where Malkin is in terms of production in a few more years.

Eli,

Your Pens? You bought the team?

Ok seriously, yes you're crazy. Anyone would gladly add the best player in the NHL to their team if they had the chance.....except you I guess.

I know all about the cap. I am not talking about the cap space or trading away half your team for him. I am saying that anyone would want the guy playing on their team if they had the chance.....once again except you.

My team...as in the team I follow. The team I am a fan of. A lot of people use that terminology. The Pittsburgh Penguins are my team! Not in the way you obviously think, but they are my team in terms of what I follow.. so stop being such a blow hard! You don't have to over analyze everything. lol

Again, the realist in me wouldn't want Ovechkin because of the aforementioned reasons. Cap space, and he would cost too much. I don't see the Pens wanting to move Crosby and/or Malkin, which would have to be sent the Caps way if such a trade offer existed. Also, the Caps would never part with Ovechkin.

And again, I much rather have Crosby and Malkin myself. But in a fantasy world, and if anything could go.. I would love a line of Ovechkin/Crosby/Malkin. So don't get so whiny kit! I like Ovechkin... but I am a also, and foremost a realist. :)

GO BRUINS GO!

I mean, GO HABS GO!

Surprised by how well the Bruins have done in this series. I was thinking this series would have gone in favour of the Habs in 5. Now it looks like either team can take this. It would be nice to see Milan Lucic go far. :)
