But the Pens do...26-10 reg. season & undefeated in the playoffs at home.

The 7th man helps.

Home ice is a huge advantage. Why do you think 95 percent of teams in sports have better home records vs. away? One could say due to the traveling on the road makes a team tired... but I think it helps greatly when a team has a great fan base cheering them on. People always do better with positive energy catering to them. From my own experience, I can personally say it helps a lot in a athlete's performance.

So never ever ignore the 7th man mfoga. :)

btw KAOSINLA, the Pens are 20-2-3 at home in their past 25 games.

My point is that the Flyers have been the lower seed and it has not exactly effected them. The traveling part may doesn't really play a part. There is only one game that the road team has to travel to that the away team doesn't. Even in the regular season the home team may have traveled further then the road team. Whats odd is a few guys who I know that play pro sports say the road games can be easier sometimes since you aren't dealing with all the home life stuff just the game.

I hate Philadelphia. I wanted so badly for Montreal to win. Stupid Flyers!

C'mon Pittsburgh, end the series tomorrow against the Rangers so I can see them kick some Philly ass!

Eli, what's with all of the hate?

The City of Brotherly Love loves you back.

What do you have against the Flyers? I know, I live in Philly and our sports teams usually don't receive the ire, just our fans do.

Are the Flyers a team in the NHL that other fans just don't like, like the Dallas Cowboys or the New York Knicks?

There you go... either way, the home advantage does help. Not in all cases, but in most.

It's like the Leafs and Habs. Or Yankees and Red Sox. If you're a Pens fan you can't like Philly. hehe

Nothing against the city. I have never been there, but their Flyers are a goon team. Anyway, you can't be a fan of both. It's just not done, and if it is, there should be a law against it. hehe

Pittsburghers hate any team that's not black and gold! And when you leave the Burgh for more $, you'll pay the price when you come back. Barry Bonds had to wear a batting helmet in the outfield b/c people would throw quarters at his giant head. Jagr and the Rags were booed out of the playoffs. And Philly should worry bout playin in the Igloo--the home record speaks for itself.

Go Pens!!!

or yankees/mets, or dodgers/giants, or dodgers/padres, or a's/giants or......

i have to say that in past, the flyers were known as league goons but this year, they've got a pretty good mix of toughness and skill.

flyers in six over the pens.

as far as the west....

dallas is red hot, really putting a whipping on the sharks after eliminating the defending champs.

dallas in 7 over the wings.

So I've been sitting here bored at work for the last two hours and got to thinking. I'm 3.5 hrs from Pittsburgh. Providing they make it would you sell one of your better statues to fund tickets to a stanley cup playoff game? I want to go to one for next round against filthy, but I don't know if I should hold off to see if they make it to the big event. Only so much cash to go around :lol

I see, but then again anyone who likes Futurama that much must have a brain in their head. The Flyers have had a reputation as a bunch of goons going back to the 70's and in the 90's with Eric Lindros.

But this is hockey, not soccer, right?

Does anyone remember that Halloween episode of the Simpsons when Ned Flanders was the Devil and Homer was on trial for his soul so Flanders made up the Jury of the Damned? The starting lineup for the 1976 Philadelphia Flyers was on the jury along with John Wilkes Booth, Lizzie Borden and Richard NIxon. I guess that tells you something.

I do remember that! That was awesome! The Broadstreet Bullies baby! How could I hate that team? I mean I was non existent at the time. Still, they had so many Manitobans on that team, especially 60 goal sniper Reggie Leach and toothless grinning Bobby Clarke. I actually had Bobby Clarke's rookie card!

btw Thanks for the compliment concerning Futurama fans. It's true, Futurama was seldom approved by the general audience. Many blamed the poor ratings due to not being able to find it on their television sets because there would always be a preemptive NFL game. The original time on Sunday in my neck of the woods was 7 PM EST. Every once and a while their time slot would be moved up to 6 EST, then you would go long periods of no episodes at all. New or old.

The other philosophy is, and the one I tend to agree with is the fact that the show was too smart for a general audience. Where as Family Guy has a lot of stupid slap stick humor, Futurama utilizes a formula more geared towards an educated audience. More-so the typical fanboy that knows their sciences, old sci-fi TV shows, politics, etc. The humor was less repetitive and redundant like the Simpsons and the Family Guy. You always had to think about what was said, and in some cases you would miss certain jokes and not catch them until the second or third time you watched those specific episodes.

Once again I must agree with you. I've loved Futurama from the start but unfortunately back in 2000 they had to contend with King of the Hill, which is still around today so that should tell you something.
I think a lot of people got their first taste of Futurama on Adult Swim and it was over shadowed by Family Guy. Family Guy is like the fast food of comedy, the jokes and humor are immediately felt and you don't need to work that hard to understand the jokes. A lot of cheap laughs.
Futurama is on a whole different level and I hate to admit it but was too smart for most people to really get into. The more I watch the more I learn. Futurama is the only show that can boast that a former VP, Al Gore, is pretty much a main character. He has ridden the mighty Moon worm. Hopefully with it coming back on Comedy Central Futurama will get its due.

Anyone but Detroit at this point :monkey4

I really don't "like" Detroit at all, but I can't stand the Pens & Flyers. I don't know who to root against MORE in that series. I guess I'll root for the Flyers so the NHL doesn't keep sucking Syndy's dick.

I hope it's Detroit or Dallas. I don't think I could stomach the Pens or Flyers winning it. So, go WHOEVER comes out of the west.

IMO the "other" 3 teams showed signs of weakness, Detroit on the other hand took Colorado, bent them over their knees and gave them a good spanking.

Detroit will most likely win the cup. Turco is Dallas right now and in most cases not enough to win a cup.

As for Pittsburgh or Philly it makes no difference, the pens goaltending is mediocre at best and Phillys Biron is again similar to Turco and the Stars.

Detroit is the all around most likely to win.

I know exactly how you feel. I'd feel the same way if I were a Caps fan.

As a fan of the NHL, you should be rooting for Sid and the Pens to at least make the finals. The league has done such a horrible job of marketing itself over the past decade that it really needs him in the finals.
