my two greatest hockey life experiences were the avalanche run in the 95-96 season. i attended every playoff game in colorado including the detroit series and game 4 in florida where ewe krupp scored the only goal in a 1-0 colorado win in triple OT. roy made 63 saves.

the other was attending the 03-04 tampa playoff run including the finals game 7 when the lightning won their only cup beating calgary 2-1, only the 13th time a stanley cup final went to 7 games.

it is something every hockey fan should experience, if you get the chance.

I think you mean Uwe Krupp....not Ewe :D

ok guys, let's test your hockey knowledge. honestly and without looking it up on the internet please, who was the first team from the u.s. to win the cup and why was it considered a faux pas? bonus if you know the year they won.

remember, no internet research please.

I didn't understand the question at first. I won't lie, I know that the New York Rangers were the first American team to win the Stanley Cup since the NHL had became the sole league where the Stanley Cup could be won.

The answer you're looking for is the Seattle Metropolitans in 1916-17, which I admittedly had to look up. I noticed in your question you didn't place the NHL in there and the Stanley Cup is much older than the NHL is, so I knew it had to predate the NHL.

you are correct. they were affectionately known as the Mets.

but internet research was not allowed. so you get an F!!! :lol

it was faux pas because one important stipulation of winning the cup was it was to remain in canada.

now getting back to the nhl, did you catch the det/dal game? seems the wings were given a big advantage in the first and dallas couldn't recover. i am predicting dallas takes game 2 though.

I will argue that! Because I was honest! Honesty is the best policy, and you had to learn that somehow.. be it in a trivia book, online, or some other source. You're an American, so it took great pride to find out when a Canadian team was the first to capture the Stanley Cup. I am Canadian, so I never felt that need. I did know the Cup was given in 1893. Hope I am not incorrect on that. hehe

Anyway, I do know who scored the most goals in a game 9 by Joe Malone, and 44 goals in 22 games is also the highest goals-per-game average one season by a single player in the NHL. I knew that long before I knew the internet even existed. Hey, I found out about the net like in 1996. lol

Either way, D-.. c'mon I could have bull^^^^ted! :(

And like I forsaw it in the second round, I still see a Wings/Pens Final. With the Wings winning it all. The Stars won't beat that powerhouse and looked horrible. Although that one goal should have been called back... see for yourself..

Anyway, my Penguins have a sigh of relief... Philly's biggest shut down player Timmonen is done for the remainder of the '08 NHL playoffs with a blood clot, no thanks to a blocked shot from the past round against the Habs. I hope he gets better.

I figured Badmoon would be here gloating...He's probably out drinkin' Guiness and wearing his tinfoil hat. I hope someone hits the brown noise tonight and he craps his pants. :rotfl

I WAS ON VACATION DRUNK AT THE ESPN ZONE IN ORLANDO. I WAS ALSO SCREAMING AT THE 4 HABS FANS IN THE BAR! :lecture I AM BACK TO CHEER THEM ON FROM HOME TONIGHT! :lol
