Dave is right. Drunk posting is never a good idea, and political threads never ever end up good. :chew:rotfl:chew

Now this thread is turning the way I thought it would...

Despite my own lukewarm feelings toward Obama, I was impressed with his speech. I get annoyed when he floats platitudes, but I didn't hear any last night. And finally, he's not ashamed to have a progressive agenda! He finally remembered that progressive values are actually appealing to Americans!

McCain's chief campaign adviser on health care is a complete idiot too. He wants to change the definition of "uninsured" so it cooks the crappy numbers on just how many people have no insurance in this country.

McCain is all for changing the names of problems so the problems go away. Problem is life doesn't work that way.

The guy really does think this is a good idea -- undecideds should read it and weep. I didn't used to give much credence to the theory about Republicans deliberately being incompetent failures at government so they can later point and say, "see? Government doesn't work!" Goodman's giving me pause, though.

I'm just curious to know what YOU would do if you were the presidential hopeful. The candidates pander to the public, trying to get them to believe that they see their struggles and will do something about it. I think most of us know that it's not as easy as that.....depending which party is running the House and Senate they could vote down any changes that the President wants to make. I stay out of politics on public forums - my vote is my business and I get enough of a headache listening to my family when it comes to these matters. But everyone (not just you Kit) is quick to jump on how this idea won't work and this is b.s., etc.....but if anyone has any ideas on what should be done to help get this country back on it's feet and stable again, I'm all for hearing it. :peace

I'd never be in that position. I am a realist. I tell it like it is or at least as I see it if you don't agree. I don't kiss ass and tell people what they want to hear so I'd never run for and would never win a public office if I did run.

I just wish people would actually wait until the debates and see WHERE he actually stands on actual issues before jumping on his bandwagon because he offers "hope and change".

Just because you're ignorant of his positions doesn't mean everyone is. You can find out where he stands right now by surfing over to his voting record. If that's too much work, just check out the convenient summaries provided under the "issues" category on his campaign site.

Well I suppose that's one way to skirt the question. :lol :lol I just find it interesting that people (and not just with politics) are quick to point out why things will fail but never seem to have any ideas on what would work. I suppose it's human nature. :dunno

I have watched the man speak. He says nothing that will pin him down on any stance othe than the usual left sided views that all democrats share ( that's not meant as an insult ). I should not have to track down his voting record. I should not have to research anything. The man is running for president so his views and plans should be what he's talking about in every speach...sadly, it's not.

I didn't skirt the question. I am being honest. My point is that I know politicians lie and pander to the masses and it makes me sick. I hate politics in general and can admist both sides are F'ed in the head.

i can't believe he had the nerve to question the courage of a man who was a POW.

It doesn't take courage to be a POW. Neither does being a POW have any bearing on one's ability to be president. That said, I appreciate McCain's service to our country.

*pixletwin adds politicians to the list of KF's preconceived notions which color his no bull crap honesty policy* :D

;)

That was a misquote of the speech, anyway. Obama didn't say "scared."

I guess that says it all right there.

Yes it does. I am not saying that I have not done these things. I am saying I should not HAVE TO. He should be telling me and everyone else where he stands don't you think? Why should we have to chase down these things? He should be putting them out there for all voters to see. He should be proud of where he stands and what his voting record is and should be talking about it and where he plans to go from here. Instead, he's turned himself into a "rock star" who just speaks well and panders to what people want to hear. It's a joke.
