And I hope it stays that way. The only electric bit I like on my figures, is the light up eyes on the Terminator figures.

When it aids in the representation of a character, I think it's key.

How badass would a Vader look if his chest box cycled through the lights like in the film. Or Han in Carbonite haveing functioning lights on the panels, or the holochess table having lit buttons. They used lights on the Sidious holo walker and I know folks had issue with that figure, but I don't recall any being tied to the electronics. It made the Endoskeleton all the cooler to have light up eyes, the ALIEN space figures look amazing with the dome lights and everything they've got. Push things forward.

Another reason why HT needs to do SW in 1/6.

I hope this ships beginning of 2nd qtr. cause i want it yesterday!

Can't wait for this guy to pose with Jedi Luke.

Awesome screencap!
Thanks.

The Sidious holo was made with substandard material to allow for the figure to house electronics...thus you end up with a flimsy item that couldn't hold its own weight without bending the legs.

Had the electronics been scrapped and the base made with polystone it would be perfect. I'd rather have it be able to stand than light up.

You can have polystone and electronics though, PFs, LSBs. They used plastic on the holo chair to allow poseability, but it probably would have been best to just choose a pose and mold it in poly.

The problem with the holo Sidious was that the "Sidious" piece was so darn heavy, that it was difficult to keep it from folding the legs and toppling over. I was lucky in that mine has held up so far. I think if they had nixxed the articulation of the legs and simply molded them in place, it would have worked fine. There's really no reason to be "articulating" the legs anyway.

I can see the "why does Sideshows darth vader cost $200???" posts now.

IMO, Sideshow has been overcharging for a while. There is no reason Lando should have cost $80 when older, far more detailed and complex figures like Boushh were $60.

Plus if Hot Toys can add lights with licensed figures, Sideshow should as well.

My Gawd that statement is so circa 2007. :lol

Which is probably close to the last time I bought any Sideshow 12" figures. When did the Jabba stuff come out? Hot Toys have stolen my money, and will continue to do so, I feel they are better figures for the money.

That said, I think Vader is reasonably priced, if I had space, I'd get him and a couple of troopers. Lando however is a complete rip-off at $80.

Ya, without getting into the old economical debate, I think $70-$80 figures are the new $50-$60 figures of old. I know some think it's pure price guaging, whatever, I honestly believe, since all manfucturer's have increased, that a fair ammount is just cost of production and all. Look at Medicom, there figures run around $180 and some of them even look worse than their older, less expensive figures, yet they still cost more.

They are a lot more money too - but they are fantastic. Hot Toys is the industry leader, presently - no doubt. SS's are good, but getting better....they just need more consistencey.

HT knocks them out of the park like no other. But their charater choices blow.

If they had star wars, the line would consist of 2 Boba Fetts, 1 Han, 3 Lukes and 8 Vaders.

So the same figure done by HT at $170 would be worth the cash?! :lol

I pre-ordered the BR Joker for $114. I believe Lando would fall within that price range.

I agree that Hot Toys is not reliable for releasing a broad range of characters...and takes just as long to release figures with waves 1, 2 ,3, and so on. I'm still waiting for the BR Joker from DC Direct.

Ya, plus at $150 a pop who could afford to get a healthy collection. I've got a fantastic SSC Star Wars collection because of the way things have worked. Are they the best 1/6 figures possible, not all of them, but they are the best 1/6 Star Wars I've ever seen and that's fine enough.

What I'd like is the SW line to become co-produced by Hot Toys and Sideshow so figures like Vader who could benefit from Hot Toys' practices can be all they can, while standard release get handled purely by Sideshow so we can continue to have affordable, high end figures.

So true, and that is something that you have to consider with a license. Personally, I feel SS are worth the money....when their factory delievers a well painted piece....I mean $80 versus $150 plus is a huge difference.
