damn, I'd pre-ordered the Sideshow ex. Vader 'cause I thought it'd be worth it for the extra "you are part of the rebel alliance and a traitor... take her away!" hand. Give me more posing options in the future if I ever got and resculpted the Leia figure.

However I just found out I can get it from a more local place at £40-£40 GBP cheaper (I'm in the UK). So now I'm thinking... damn, is it really worth £40/£50 for a pointy hand??

Grrrrrrr.......

let it go. get it cheaper. in the end the money saved is better. It's not like the hand is all that spectacular.

That's my exact way of thinking, especially with money in such short supply here at the moment. But then that photo Justin posted was the exact reason I went for the exclusive in the first place. I Never order direct from Sideshow, too expensive and I never care about the exclusives. So I get them cheaper from here in teh UK....

but that finger. Dammit.

but £40/£50

I wonder if I could sculpt myself a replacement finger/hand.... hmmmmm. After all when it's on the shelf you only need to get the outline of the shape, doesnt have to be as good as sideshows. dammit lol

The only reason I order directly from Sideshow is the customer service.

Nope, I'm thinking late 2nd quarter, possibly 3rd quarter.

Stormtroopers ware production samples last July at Comic-Con and we just got them in March, Vader was a prototype, and they're going to want to ensure quality there so they'll be taking their sweet time making sure the production figure is up to snuff.

Yeah, if we get Vader before SDCC I'll be surprised... not a slight against SSC, but I think there is a lot to get right on this figure and they are gonna want to make sure this figure is the flagship for the line.

A large % of sales for the rest of this line are banking on Darth Vader. If they failed, they risk people dropping it.

Didnt the Comic Con samples have different Helmet sculpts (ie the tusks were smaller) and paint job (Like the eyes didnt have that extar paint at the edge). Im thinking those were not production figures.

Somewhere it was stated by Sideshow that they were production samples. Now, that's not to say they didn't make further tweeks, but still, the Stormies were underway at the time of Comic Con, where Vader was only a prototype and not as far along.

Also the SDCC trooper was shinier looking. Alot changes seem to have happened so i dont think they were production figures... maybe just a more later prototype close to production.

But wouldn't it be weird if they show Vader for 2 SDCCs in a row before they ever release him? It would make Sideshow look incompetent that it took them over a full year to release a figure. I would also look a little desperate that they need to feature him for 2 years worth of SDCCs because it's their flagship figure--as if they will never have anything else as good as Vader, like it's the only thing they can rely on. I think Sideshow knows it would look bad for them if they did that. As a company, they constantly need to outdo themselves year after year to remain competitive. They're going to have to find something to top Vader this year. Vader should be considered yesterday's news. I think they'll try their best to make sure it gets sent out before SDCC, or at the very least start him shipping. It will also help to place the focus on their next big offering and not their old stuff.
