i will always and forever know what doll dots mean now. thanks to everyone. that might be part of the reason i have always thought that sideshows figures look more like dolls than other companys. hmmmm....

The dot is not a deal breaker, as it not super noticeable. But it really is an unecessary step (and can be distracting) since they do gloss the eyes.

Maybe we should contact the Destroyer of Dreams on this one so he can tell us that won't happen too :lol

Alright, Obi Wan has been delivered... now i just have get off of work so I can go get him :banghead

This has been a particularly boring ass day, had a couple of cancelations which just means a lot of trying to look busy :rolleyes

Okay, so I go General Kenobi today and I have to say I am very, very impressed.

Starting with the bad (get it out of the way):
The ankles and knees are loose. What's odd though, is I expected it to be the ball joint for the foot that was the culprit, but I think the peg (which is similar to the hands, but much longer) just isn't a tight enough fit. The knees are just kind of weak, they hold a pose, but you can tell that it might not be stable long term. The armor overall seems to be really nice, but the shin pieces are on the loose side as well, which seems to make the leg issues more noticeable. The quality of the armor seems really good, but I think if the shin was a tighter fit it would be greatly improved.

The Good:
Sculpt and paint (with the exception of the doll dot) looks excellent, he really has a nice stern expression and even though they did that odd brown outline he doesn't look like a zombie. The work on the beard, like we saw with the SDCC photos is excellent; really nicely shaded.

Articulation is surprisingly good, and compared to the Medicom Shocktrooper, he poses much more naturally. And while he's restricted by the armor, its still a lot more poseable than I expected. I think their redesigns of the armor really helped a lot. I can't say if ABS is better than vinyl, but at the very least Kenobi seems more versatile than my Medicom Clone. Hands swap out easily and don't feel likely to break and he looks more lifelike.

The cloak and soft goods are actually pretty workable out of the box. I didn't water treat him, but I was still able to get the cape and tabbards to lay naturally. The belt is all plastic and the weathering doesn't seem as bad in person; I'll probably still fix it eventually, but for now its okay.

Overall I'm really happy with the figure, if the legs were tighter I think he'd be nearing perfection. Hopefully Sideshow is able to fix this before the Stormies arrive.

Suck about the joints. We need SS to hear us LOUD AND CLEAR on this before more armor rolls out. Everything else seems to be in order.

I think you'll have a ball Sean, he really looks great in person. The legs are a bit bothersome, but not a deal breaker by any means. Also, I use a stand so not much of an issue.

Completely agree... its really similar to the Hobbits. Great overall figures, but the ankles and knees were really weak. If they can tighten those up I think they'll have a real winner on their hands :lecture

Well I'm planning a photoshoot that'll put the figure through a good test of standless posing, so we'll see how it goes.

How are the wrists? The Hobbit wrists are a bit loose too.

Wrists are good, just like HT. Although every so often I get a wonky HT wrist so I wouldn't be surprised if there are some issues.

And he will stand, but you do need to find the sweet spot. And I wouldn't trust him not to topple after awhile.

That's ok, between unstable figures and me bumping into my figure pedistal during shoots, I've developed quick relfexes to snatch up plummeting figures :lol

Great pix GB. :rock The best I have seen, you put him under great lighting. Congrats, hopefully I can pick one up down the road.

Here are some of the pics I took of him today. GREAT figure. I'm very pleased.

I do see the issues with the 'soft' joints though. But he still holds a pose.

I'm still learning how to take good pics of these guys. My wife is 'borrowing' a DSLR, but I think that the lens she has for it isn't the best for Macro work.

He's a really cool figure, especially for being an oddball EU creation. Definitely think he's among the best Sideshow has produced so far.

And great pics Shalamar :rock
