Head sculpt comparison:
To be honest, in terms of paint the only difference I see is that the MK I head is a little more sun tanned and the eyebrows & goatee & are a lighter brown than the MK III head...otherwise, they seem pretty darn close. The shape of the eyes a just a bit different too, with the MK III have a little shading action going on as well. It's a non issue in my book. It doesn't really matter to me as I display them with helmets on anyway.
the mark1 indeed looks awesome as karnis' pics have proved. everything is top notch---the sculpt, the paint apps, the proportions, the size... but sadly, not the headsculpt. to me it looks nothing like downey jr. the eyes are definitely off. he looks chinese! the paint is also sloppy, esp for the hair and goatee. imo, this is a step down from the mark 2 & 3 headsculpts. however, i'm saying this based on this pic. hopefully in person, it'lll look better. or maybe hot toys will do a recall if there are lots of complaints.
i suppose the saving grace is that most people (including myself) will display him with the mask on, so it's a non-issue.
other than that, the figure looks like a real a winner!

neither of the heads look like Downey to me. I have my M3 head in a Ziploc bag with all the extra hands and heads that I don't use.

That looks ABSOLUTELY BADASS! Can't wait to get this guy! This and Vader are my 2 most anticipated figures this year and they're both COMING SOON!!!
Nice pics Karnis! I don't have a problem with the sculpt but the eyes are a little lifeless and the whites a bit too bright for HT standards. Overall this gets my vote for figure of the year. The suit detailing and paint are amazing.

Am i the only one who thinks the face sculpt looks horrible? hottoys can do better than this, dont know whats wrong with them lately. The beard looks gray?¿ WTF! i can see John Connor tanned skin syndrome too...

I think the sculpt is off as well. They seem to hit a snag with recent sculpts:
The Spirit
John Connor (being fixed)
Marcus Wright (fixed)
IM Mark I (Tony Stark)
Wolverine (hopefully being fixed)
Too their credit, most sculpts are / or will be fixed and everything else about the figs is top notch.

dude if you'd checked a few posts back, you'd know you're not the only one.
there was also some talk earlier in this thread that the reason for hot toys' recent slump in form is due to a change in their suppliers in china. as such, there's a lurving curve the new factory is going thru. i wouldn't be too worried though, as ht seems to be serious about fixing existing quality issues.

Great shots Karnis, I just got mine and I have to say I'm blown away. I agreee the head sculpt isn't as strong as the ones with MK2 + 3, but the attention to detail has made this my fig of the year so far... and coming after receiving the Godfather that's saying something... it's one of those figures that just makes me smile when I handle it... just beautiful!

Absofreakinlutely!, I was just about to start on my T700 review, but he'll have to wait... this is just too sweet. Obviously it's all down to the individual, I'm sure The Godfather, Jack Bauer, Dutch, or even MK2 might be more to some peoples tastes, hell they're all to my taste, and all those mentioned are absolutely top class figures, but this one just demands that you play with it, and like I said it makes a cynical old git like me smile, love it!
I look forward to both reviews. I have the T-700 so I can wait for the review. I refuse to pay crazy shipping cost for Mark I therefore, I am looking forward to your review and pics. Tide me over until SS delivers

Thanks Jeff, much appreciated. This was my most anticipated figure of the year as well, and IMHO did not disappoint at all. The detail in the sculpt & paint of the armor is outstanding, isn't it? Not to mention the weathering in the gloves and jacket under the armor. All great work. I won't have time to do a review this time around as I have to travel for business all next week, so I'm looking forward to your review (as always)...but I pretty much know already how it's going to read.
