Got portal 1 and 2 on steam. I know they dont really tax this machine too much but i played them both on consoles and on pc they both looked much better and ran way smoother. Not sure what the cards are, ill check in the morning. Yes, its shaped like a diamond sort of.

Diamond Dogs!!

That's about the most intelligent thing I could ever contribute on this board. :lol :slap

Congrats on getting a gaming PC, Jason.

I'm starting to research open water loop cooling. My next project. So many options these days with that.

Currently only have a closed loop h100i and I recommend using the closed loops too.

New Oculus rift rival enters the race, this one may be worth watching as it's from Valve and HTC.

HTC announces SteamVR-powered Vive VR headset

Yeah, this is a huge announcement. Up until now, Oculus pretty much had VR to themselves on PC. Valve is serious competition and it looks like they're planning to make things happen fast. There's a ton of questions right now but we'll hopefully get a lot of those answered this week at GDC. Oculus needs to get moving or they coul get left behind after all their work. Sony is expected to have a lot to say about Project Morpheus this week as well. It's an exciting week for us VR nuts.

Definitely, competition can only be a good thing. Exciting times.

I'll be playing DCS world for months before I even consider what to put on next, maybe Elite dangerous though. We have no idea of a price yet.

I hear Alien Isolation is quite an experience on vr also.

2015 build complete! I am just waiting for my external DVD drive to arrive so I can install the OS. :)

It's so beautiful. :love

I played through Alien in vr and it was terrifying. Almost too scary TBH, but I loved being in that world. It'd be so incredible to be able to physically walk around those environments the way they're making it possible with Vive. Someone bring me my brown pants.

what kind of game would one play using that VR gear and roughly how much it'll cost?

There's pretty endless possibilities as far as types of games. Cost is still unknown for the actual hmds, but you'll definitely need a monster gaming rig to get the most out of them. That's going to be pretty expensive if you don't have one already.

vague answer. like specifically what kind of game best suited for this head gear? VR as in virtual reality, yes? Mr. Green only play Diablo 3 atm, barely now as he's bored. but do players use this for Call of Duty or what game? and how much specifically? 1k? 2k? monster gaming rig is just another issue, Mr. Green can always build another.

How specific do you expect him to be? We have no idea what games you like, how much these things will cost, what exact requirements they will have to run them, properly, how much hardware will be at the time etc etc.. You'll just have to wait and see like the rest of us I guess. Simulation games will probably benefit the most from this kind of tech, but many genres will put it to very good use. It has the potential to completely revolutionise gaming, but nothing is certain yet.

snappahead apologizes. What snappahead meant was that there's not a lot of announcements for software yet, so all we have is speculation. Hopefully this week at GDC we'll see some software reveals and certainly e3. CoD isn't ideal as fast paced fps games can make people sick. Diablo style games are awesome in VR. Snappahead is expecting the Vive to be in the $500 range. The Oculus Rift could be as low as $350.
