At this point, I've really warmed up to it, my main issue is how much blue screen was used compared to what the first 3 seemed to do and how obvious it is at times, one thing I enjoyed about the first 3 is how real so much of it felt, despite being somewhat a fantasy franchise, the real ships and locations brought a great quality to the films and made things look grittier, 4 and 5 almost seem too HD at times.

Perhaps, though I hear the budget was still big for Pirates 5. Even like the shot of the sharks circling the boat, they were in a boat on a gimble on a soundstage and nowhere near water, shocking to me, but yeah, I don't think any full size boats were used, I've seen shots of the Pearl, Silent Mary and Queen Anne's Revenge all as the deck up with everything below just blue screen riggings. I do know they built the Queen Anne's revenge for OST on top of the Black Pearl, so maybe that move ruined things and they couldn't get the Pearl back.

looking forward but seems so long....October? Alien Covenant was release a week before this and it comes out next month on the 15th I think! Should have been late August IMO :(

Fox has been doing a quicker than average turnaround on Theater to BD this past year. Disney usually waits about 4 months.

The drive-in theatre finally got this (took them long enough), so I went to see it for a third time last night. Still holds up.

I have a hard time separating 2 and 3 in terms of ranking for rewatchability, while separate films and not on equal level, 2 somewhat feels like an incomplete film the way it ends, for me, if you watch 2 you need to watch 3, like one 5 hour movie.

For the first time viewing, yes. But I can watch 2 now endlessly.... can't sit thru 3 at all except the last 45 minutes.

Its like ROTJ for me... I just can't sit thru it anymore. It was hard, very hard, ranking a movie above Jedi but still below ANH and ESB.

Finally saw this. Really liked it. Felt like it was back to Pirates after the 4th film which I didn't care for.

Blu Ray October 3 :rock

Was hoping a little earlier but I cannot wait! They're still advertising it as the "Final Adventure". Please don't let that be true.

I hope the blu has as much BTS stuff as the first 3. It's pretty amazing how much works goes into these pirate movies.

Agreed, DMC is my personal favorite. The tone is just top-notch along with the action sequences.

Yeah, I prefer 2 actually as far as watchability and Davy's my favorite pirate villain... but Pirates 1 is still a better overall movie and Jack's character is still the best in that one. He slid into even more buffoonery as the movie's progressed. In 1, he was a drunk and a bit of a softy at heart but he didn't strike me as a guy who was so oblivious that he would fall into an open grave for a laugh.

I love all Pirates movies equally but if I have a need….

To date I watch

4 – to get a hit of POTC without the need of character introductions from 1
2 &3 – I watch together but when I feel I might have time
1 - when I need of character introductions

4 might be replaced with 5 when released on Blu Ray so it might go to

5
2&3
