Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

MaulFan, do we sleep?

Ya, I'm up to go to work, 6:44 AM here, always check out the boards for a few minutes before I start my day, need a little R&R time, once I get to work it becomes about not getting caught, here I'm free haha.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Got my Davy in today, and aside from the size issue I really do think it's an awesome figure. Wonder what their reasoning was for using a smaller body...

I'd kill for human Davy now, definately. :(

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I don't think they chose to make Davy small, I think they just took their base body and built him up from their. He's not in scale with others persay, but by himself proportions are correct so I'm sure that's what they aimed for. The POTC line clearly shows HT doesn't pay attention to scale.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

They're here, just starting to pull Jack out of the box. Both look great, that Cannibal head, just Wow, they really could not have capture Johnny more perfect, not just the sculpt but the paint too. Sculpt alone might actually not work, it's the fantastic eye painting that really makes it sing.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Davy is on the small side huh? Too bad. Oh well, I get mine from the local comic shop today. :rock I'm more concerned about the overly glossy finish on him.

I think he turned out FANTASTIC, as Yoda would say, size matters not. The colors and everything look so good on him, the rubber feels like it should hold up just fine over time, the sculpting is beautiful.

One note to folks, the key is in the second clear tray covering jones, not in the black one like the rest of his accessories, I found just a hole in the black one and though the key never got put in then I looked at the clear one and it's taped in there, figured I'd save some fellow freaks a headache.

First shot of Jones:

cant wait!! he's only hours maybe minutes away. thanks for the heads up about the key. think im gonna locate mine before i even open him and keep track of it at all times. dont wanna lose that baby.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

How poseable is it with the rubber clothes and all?

Haven't had much a chance to check it all out, but the legs have a better range than I expected, as does the right arm, right wrist has full motion. The most inhibitied point I find is the elbow of the claw arm, it wants to push back a bit, but everywhere else is about as poseable it can be with all the material. You really couldn't have the detail without using rubber, they made the right choice. I'd equate him to Takara Batman in terms of poseability with the rubber suit, I'd say they're about equal.

I put mine in the chest with the heart.

Speaking of the chest, I've read comments about it seeming too small, seems just right to me, and great detail work.

Sounds good. I thought the Tak Bats had great range of motion. As long as I can get some nice sword fighting poses out of Davy I'd be happy.

I think you'll have no trouble with that, I'm already brewing my fight shots with Jack in my mind for when I get home. What I really like is that you can pose his crab leg in a nice way, I notice how he had it posed fight Jack on the mast and I was hoping I could come close to it with the figure and I can :D

i may have davy and V1 jack dueling while cannibal jack watches them with a bottle of rum. "...the hell is this? gotta lay off the rum mate."

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

There are so many possibilities now; I'll be having Jack holding court over Cannibal Island and fleeing for his life, striking bargains with Jones, dueling Davy, Will giving the chest to Elizabeth for safe keeping, both of these figure bring to the table a lot of fun in themselves and their extras.
