Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I could see Sparrow as DX04. Really though, after the MJ DX, and even Batman would be enough, if they make another Sparrow and it's not with PERS, it'd be epic fail on HTs part, if ever a character warranted that technology it's Captain Jack.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

We still have a year for pirates 4. I don't see it being DX04. I'm not saying it won't be made. But I would assume hot toys would announce another DX for another license before then.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

True, but they could always do Sparrow in advance. Assuming Jack's wardrobe only goes through small changes from At World's End, they could do a figure of him early without needing to know, or having to keep secret, designs from the new film. If HT intends to do much with POTC 4, they should get it started with Jack and Barbossa, pre-existing designs, and build up interest again in POTC figures.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I have a chance to get Davy Jones for $120 shipped. I've got Jack Sparrow and Elizabeth. I'm wondering if I should add Davy to the collection. I think I probably should.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Depends on how you feel about the character but he's a really nicely made figure, and that's a good price considering how old the figure is.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I took the leg extenders off of Jack to decrease his height a little bit. Do you think he'd look alright standing next to Davy Jones? I remember a lot of people complaining about the height issue.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Davy's pretty far back in this shot relative to other figures, but here he is with all the HT figures on original bodies.

And here's Davy standing with Jack on the HT Slim TT body, no mods to the body, just a straight swap.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Thanks for the pics. Davy Jones looks really cool. I might have to pick him up. Did you do swap Will Turner to the slim as well?

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Hey I tired that. The neck adaptor is way to long for the slim TT. doesn't look good at all. They look better on a narrow TT.

No, other than being a bit too tall, Will looks fine on the body he comes with, if anything I might swap to a regular TT with the posable neck instead of the sculpted like he has, but that's it.

Don't use the slim neck, you can pop the regular TT neck Jack comes with onto the slim body, it's what I've done, the Slim neck is to skinny for Jack's head anyway.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

The neck adaptor he comes with is the same size as a regular TT. Its still to long. Narrow shoulder is the best way to go I think!

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Here's a shot of 3 HT necks, SLIM / STANDARD / TDK Extended.

Jack and the Narrow TT both use the same neck as the middle one.

If you prefer the Narrow look for him, go for it, I really think anything bigger than the slim is too large once he has all his clothes on, but you won't gain neck advantages.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Sorry MF, but I think Tatooine is right. I this picture Jack Sparrow looks to suffer of the giraffe neck syndrome.:monkey3

I'm not saying he doesn't, I'm not sure the body makes all that much difference with the neck.

Here's Jack on the Slim.

And the original HT body.

I think the slimmer shoulders does make his head look as though it's sitting higher, but I don't think it actually is any different, that the neck elevates it as much as it does no matter what body you attach it to. The Narrow may look less long necked, but then, to me, he'd still look to broad. To me, the Slim, once you have the figure all done up, is perfect for Depp's build in the movies.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Maul is right :) And Jack on the narrow TT is spot on - even the coat fits well - looked awful on the standard

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

Pro is actually a good compromise, fixes height issues too... but his neck is to long on the slim no matter what the neck is...

that being said i do use a slim myself but the darker skin tone one from Goamon although apparently it is some sort of taller slim body so maybe i'll shorten it im happy with it but only because it uses the original HT coat and it still keeps him slim but does not make his neck seem to long, the Medicom coat looks pretty bad on him... only my opinion though.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

I tried the Pro but went for the slim because I didn't want to deal with figuring out how to secure the boots on him and the legs weren't secure enough inside for me.

Re: Official Hot Toys Pirates of the Caribbean Thread

So I just put the medicom Jack clothes on a slim TT. Used the V1 head and took out the neck socket inside the head. Slid the head over the slim neck adaptor and it looks good. Gonna post some pics soon.

Tattoinew&f was at my house this morning and brought his modded Jack. He asked me to take a pic and this is how it looks:
