Agreed, I can't stand Lindelof. Especially what he did to Prometheus. The original concept script to Prometheus was way better.

I dont think its fair to Lindelof.
The guy just did what Scott asked him to do.
The original script by john Spaith was a straight alien flick, its good but really unoriginal exept for the engineers angle but Ridley and Fox tought it was a better idea move away from that and try to build a new path.
Lindelof original shooting script is not as dumb as the movie, Scott cut scenes hoping to achieve some mystery.
Lindelof did not liked the way he worked with Scott and declined to do the follow up.
In the end COVENANT is basically the original script by john Spaiht.

I think a lot of the fans need the visuals to be What they are used to see.
I really think the prequel trilogy has far more interesting situations ´s and visuals than TFA but its lost in bad casting, dialogue and direction.
PROMETHEUS had potential and they hooked the audience but they were lost, ALIEN not Alien.
Xenos or not xenos.
They should have kept whats makes this franchise familiar and add the engineer element.
Just tell the goddamn story of the derelict ship close the book on that.
And then go another way.

  • Waterston, Danny McBride and Michael Fassbender are all good in it and that the central characters of the film are good
  • However the side-cast is your typical cannon fodder material and the film has some editing/pacing issues
  • David is the villain of the film. Aside from the Xenomorphs, he's the main bad guy. He's obsessed with creating the perfect organism.
  • He's the sole inhabanet of the planet the crew land on, which is called "Paradise"
  • It's the home world of the Engineers but David killed off all of them with the black goo
  • You hardly see any Engineers outside of the corpses scattered around the planet
  • Shaw is seen only in flashbacks. She's dead before the movie begins and she's the one who sent the beacon to the Covenant ship to help them find the planet
  • When David first tells the crew of Covenant what happened to Shaw, he claims she died when the Jockey ship crashed on the planet.
  • Later we find out David killed her or exposed her to black goo for testing
  • New type of Xeno: The Neomorphs are a new type of Xeno's and they burst out of a guys back and another ones throat
  • They run on all fours at first like the dog alien from Alien 3, then stand upright later on. They also have fang teeth and spike things on their back/tail that they can shoot.
  • Airbourne black spores infecting the crew is what creates these Neomorphs
  • David has a creepy shop of horrors underneath the Engineer citadel set up. Brownish looking room with failed experiments.
  • Basically he ****s over the Covenant crew when he finds them so he can use them for Xeno experiments.
  • David is also pretty much the one who creates the first facehugger and Xeno that we know and love.
  • He's responsible for creating the proto eggs and facehugger because he's been experimenting with the black goo since they arrived on the Planet.
  • David is able to lure a character into his egg room and exposes them to a classic facehugger.
  • This spawns the Proto-Xenomorph. It's not the classic one we know, but the closest to it. It is more animal in nature.
  • David can also communicate with the Neomorphs and he tries to protect them since he's the "father"
  • Movie ends in a way that's open to a sequel but has no tie to Alien.
Epic movie my ass! Sounds like a syfy special. :rotfl

trailer looked good.
Nope.

Alien is now part of the memeber franchises too. Sigh.
As if Brometheus wasn't the start of it.

What a wasted opportunity to make something really original and new.
Fixed and yes, a waste it is. They could create a new sci-fi franchise based on leftover concepts instead of makin' stupid Alien prequels that don't make one bit of logical sense.

Sounds as disappointing as Alien 3 was after Aliens.
I'll never understand this.
What where people expectin' if ALIENS left no room for another sequel anyway?

All the crew will die apart from the woman who looks like Ripley 2.0 and Fassbender. They'll blow the alien out of the airlock and it will finish with them setting off to the next planet for part 3 even though part 3 will have no relevance to this movie.

David might go away in his own ship. I dont think theyll go together

broke back alien.

that trailer spoiled some kills, why the **** do they do that.

the xenomorph has that biomechanical design feature...
if the rumors are true, and david is in this one....david + alien sh t =the xenomorph

With all of these precursors to the original Alien...sorta detracts from the 'specialness' of the Alien if you do take it all as canon. No? Yes?

I see no defference between these and Prequel Trilogy.

Looked like something from Friday the 13th than Alien :slap

I thought Pro ended with the two taking the ship to the Alien or engineer planet

Why do they have explorers landing at the same area again

You guys are spoiling this movie for the rest of us. Your comments to the spoilers are transparent....
Also, when did we come to the point where movies should be ripped apart before anyone has even seen it? Everything is so damn negative these days...
People are even reading spoilers because it's better to be the first to complain than to be surprised in the cinema. Sad.

Movies are ripped apart by marketing campaigns anyway.
Leaking the plot details is part of it now
They want our reaction and they get it.
Negative buzz is still buzz.

So you just do what they want you to? I'm not saying this because I feel sorry for the industry. I say this because I feel sorry for all the people that can no longer go into a cinema and get an experience that they haven't already judged.
