Take the best part, the thorax/abdomen, and go from there. I don't know how you can say that wouldn't look good painted blue. :monkey5

We do want something that looks good uncovered. Could probably do different parts. Like what is being done with the male body.

The HT female would look perfect if they made the arms a tad thicker. Right now they look kinda odd. Like she has twigs for arms with absolutely no muscle definition or subcutaneous fat. It doesn't match the rest of the body.

Hot Toys apparently has one other (new?) female body in addition to the one used for Vas and Ripley. It appears to be similar to the black plastic armoured figure body Sideshow has unveiled, but in female form. I'm referring to the body they used for Appleseed Deunan. Except for her undersized head, the proportions look about the same, and her torso is hard plastic instead of the soft rubbery type used for Rips and Vas.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hot Toys comes out with a female body having concealed joints like the muscular male bodies before long. Hopefully they'll find a way to push the amount of articulation in their "soft" body designs in the near future, too. They seem to be headed in the right direction anyway.

I don't know how easy it would be to do a muscular type female body. I think the inner frame of the arms can only be so small and still retain poseability with the extra rubber covering.

That's true. Dragon made that weird "bendy" female body some years ago, it was a nice idea, but with only wires inside, it had extremely limited articulation. Besides that, it was way too skinny looking. If anyone could pull it off right now my money would be on Hot Toys. They'd have to use something very strong internally, such as cast metal "bones" that could be thin but strong enough to hold up under normal use, not to mention the molding processes. I'm not sure if there's any sort of plastic they could use that would hold up under all that, and using metal sounds expensive.

If any company were to find a way to perfect the molding of a soft body with an internal frame and joints that would closely replicate actual skeletal articulation, and make it affordable enough for consumers, it would revolutionize the 1/6 scale toy industry!

I know for certain that the CG 2.0 has most of the same exposed joints as the HT female. The elbow and knee joints are just about identical.

The major difference is the torso. CG has a rib joint and a waist joint, whereas HT is smooth.

However, CG has hips. And a butt. And thighs. And breasts. I know HT has all those things (sort of) but not Aayla Secura hips, butt and breasts. :lecture

If they could hide the torso joints on the CG 2.0, it would be perfect for characters like that.

There's no doubt in my mind the CG 2.0 is arguably the most attractive looking and fully posable female body available right now. The proportions are nothing short of ideal... at least as far as many male figure collectors are concerned (myself included). :monkey1 :D

They look absolutely amazing in any sort of costume that covers their most obvious jointed areas, but for female characters with lots of exposed flesh... :monkey4 :monkey2

Yeah. It takes a lot of overlooking if they aren't mostly covered. I'm just saying, short of the torso, they're no worse than HT.

So there's the opening in the market for Sideshow to take advantage of. Big chance for innovation SS. Full-bodied 1:6 female armitures that look good half naked.

Smooth belly, simple elbows and knees. And there you have it.

This would be an excellent opportunity for Sideshow to fill the long overdue need for a vastly improved female figure body. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. :D

Judging from the black plastic and how narrow that revealed forearm looks I'd almost go to say that Hot Toys used their co-developed HT/SSC Armored Body for that Appleseed Deuna (sp?)!!!

They might have an armored female version!

I completely forgot about the Appelseed figure being (basically) a female muscular body. Maybe I was wrong about it being possible.

From what I can tell, the body under Deunan's suit feels different from what the SSC Armoured Body ought to feel like. There's a fully female form under the suit. Seems to me this is a new HT armoured female body, so it's very possible Sideshow will be using something like this too at some point.

The body underneath feels like hard plastic, unlike the usual muscular bodies HT has used for males. The suit feels like a miniature neoprene wetsuit when you press on it, kind of soft and spongy. As I said, it seems like they used a new armoured female body for Duenan Knute. :monkey5

I'd rather see something like the HT female body.

Now I can see Aayla Secura being made with this, can't you? Nice realistic proportions and is athletically pleasing.

Come on Sideshow!

If you like Bulgarian weightlifters!:lol

Regarding the hobbit body and a picture....
Here's what screamingmetal posted months ago (from cooltoyreview.com)...

I'm not sure if a better picture was posted at some other point.

Ok, let's see: 9" x 6 = 36". Everyone happy with this?? :google

Way back when I learned math 9 x 6 = 54! Hobbits are shorter than this! Except for Merri and Pippin after drinking the Ent Wine, which did not happen in the film, even then they were only around 48" afteward!

If the body is 9" without the head that will mean at least another 3/4" (4.5")!!

I can't wait for Yoda who should stand about 4' 10.5"!!

:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

And about the Volks bodies: It comes as no surprise to those who have been paying attention that most bodies today come from Volks designs. The few exceptions include those from the old Hasbro and Ideal bodies from the '60's.

Is it really a big problem that someone actually advances the design technology of production figures??

BTW, Triad just took the next step with their Otaku bodies.

Yo seem to be omitting that the body is modular, and can be made smaller or taller by swapping out parts.

I'm personaly hoping that youda will use an even smaller body, that we have not seen yet. the same smaller body would be needed for jawa's ewoks, ugnaughts, and a few of the cantina aliens if they decide to do them.

9" is too tall, Hobbits should be about 3' 6" on average to about 4" at their tallest so they should be about 7" tall to 8" at their tallest.
We just won't know exactly how tall the figures are until Sideshow gives us official word.
But there is nothing Sideshow or Hot Toys could do to make this bod work for Yoda. Yoda would need a body just a bit larger then a GI Joe or a Star Wars body at 4 5/16" tall.
.66 of a meter into 1:6 is 4 & 5/16 inches tall.
Maybe Hasbro can help Sideshow out with Yoda?

I do think the Hobbits will end up being a bit tall, but in the one picture showing the silhouettes of all the characters Sam and Frodo look pretty good.
