Thanks, Aaron! As much as people say "it looks better in person". It looks better in person. :lol It's kind of hard to take a picture on a drawing on an iphone.

Sorry, but maybe there should be a different thread for the other figure. It looks fantastic. I'm sure there are some valid points, but I keep coming here looking for the latest on Jules. :peace

I don't think there will be any updates on Jules till people start getting him in hand unfortunately.

If I had the money, I would be getting as many commissions as I could. Thats the hobby isn't it - to own a one of a kind??? Otherwise we'd all still be buying hot toys...:lol:lol

I'm glad I get to see this figure at all - Fantastic Work...
Jealous - Yes.... Angry - NO WAY! Lucky person who had the funds...

There are other creators of figures that can make characters...

Like I said after another one of PopCultKid's long-winded posts that are full of drivel, comments like those, the entitled behavior and bratty attitudes of many here have pushed Rainman to the brink.

:WAHHHH: :gah: "The sculpt is not accurate...," "It's not perfect," yada yada yada and many other statements have left quite a sour taste in his mouth. Who is anybody to judge rainman's artistic stylings and interpretations? I love how some have come on here and paid their way into this hobby... and now act like they are Rainman aficionado's. I guess the person who purchased a Lucy after it was sold out doesnt have anything to say? What about those that if they had the funds, would actually go that route in getting a desired character?

Spoken like a true hater :clap

The person who bought Lucy DIRECTLY FROM THE MAN after she was sold out is right here boss :wave; and I said all I wanted to say about this commission and situation on p. 179.

Listen guy, if you don't like my opinions that's fine but don't single me out with this horse s__t. I'm not the only one who expressed disappointment. I've apologized to Rainman a few times about my bluntness. The apology was also for those here who took offense to my approach as well; if I wasn't clear about that then, I'm sorry guys :peace.

Believe me I'm not speaking out just because I'm some kind of d__k and I like to ruffle feathers and stir s__t. I love the hobby and I'm passionate about it. I had super high expectations and my disappointment with how these releases were handled took the diplomacy out of me. I regret being as sharp as I was at times and again I apologize to Rainman and to all.

I regret my approach in several posts and I should've worded things better but my standpoint on the PF boys remains the same. I feel a certain way about how fast these were presented, what they came with and the quality of certain accessories and that's not changing. You can agree, or agree to disagree.

My standpoint on the buyer/seller, artist/fan relationship remains the same as well. Don't forget folks that this product is a niche inside of a niche. Most people outside of the hobby will tell us that we need to get our heads checked for dropping this kind of money on art figures. Most people IN the hobby and ON this forum will tell us the same thing. That makes us a tiny sect of a small community. There's obviously a relationship between this small group of fans/supporters and Rainman; it's clear that within our group there are mixed ideas of how that relationship should be. Rainman doesn’t owe us anything literally,…. but figuratively? I think that Brocha summed it up well:

I hope so because he really would be pissing on the foundation of his custom business that everyone here helped build. The reason he has so much fame and notoriety isn't only because of his great talent but the combined effort of everyone's feedback, the youtube reviews, the facebook posts, and the constant flattery and comparing of other artists are what got him at the top of the game, most certainly the level of success he's at now. My point is without everyone in the communities support, promotion, contributions but also being consumers of Rainman's products he would not have even been approached for this commission, so i do think he does own something to his fans who have been there supporting him building his name to and truly bring in the consistent $$ as opposed to the quick payday.

I never wanted to offend Rainman or put any fellow boardies off but my passion got me going hard. I hope you guys realize that if I didn’t care or this stuff didn’t mean that much too me, I wouldn’t waste my time with long winded posts or even be on this site period.

Why are peeps getting upset at RM for doing a private commission?? Its his damn time and business and he can do what he pleases. I don't get why be upset??? ridiculous ..

No one is upset at Rainman, we all stated he was free to do as he pleased, it's just the situation and circumstances that was upsetting and unfortunate, most of us admitted to being jealous man-children, but who wouldn't want the opportunity to put such a phenomenal piece in their collection by one of the most sought after talented artists, especially when the likeness is sooo undeniably spot on and the characters medium is equally as appealing, Rainman really did a remarkable job on this one, legendary even. Jealousy Leads To Anger, Anger Leads To Hate, Hate Leads to Suffering, haha.

Its sad that's the way it is people wanting that ONE OF A KIND, to be better than the next man! im just in it to have good looking stuff from the movies I love. I THOUGHT THAT WAS WHAT IT WAS ABOUT, NOT ONEUPSMANSHIP. :cuckoo:
SAD

I agree it shouldn't be about that ooak and should just be about having the things you like, but it is an innate thing in people to want something exclusive or rare, not just this hobby, it is anything worth collecting this pertains to, I can see points to both arguments and to be honest I often am like let everyone in and we all enjoy but lately that same debate put me to the test with Cheungkinmen's Oh Dae-Su, and him making more and I was against this! haha Selfish indeed but I took a step back and realized who am I to stop others from enjoying what I enjoy and Johnny from making more money and giving others the art I now have, so in the end if everyone gets to enjoy it then im for that.

Yes... This is how it starts with the lets all share the plastic love, but by the time some have been collecting for a while, the less number run it seems the better for alot of people..

If i had a ooak - then I think that is great for me... but for others not so much...

When you are a serious collector of something - the prize is the ooak pieces. This applies to all collections.
I collect ALOT of things... and the most rewarding things are the ones where only a handful still exist, or even better - the only one. It is the truth if you are serious collector of a certain thing... It is not about being 'better than the next man' , its about knowing what you have is very special not only to you, but to others also who appreciate it, and unfortunately this is what drives most collections...

I happen to own 5 Rainman Fullset figures with Jules FS on PO, tons of Iminime, Trevor Walt/Dexter, you may not consider me a "serious collector" but I like to think I am with some "serious figures" and I am all for "share the plastic love"

Let's just be honest, we all know that you are NOT a serious collector unless you own every Hot Toys iteration of every single Iron Man and Ledger Joker...

I was not referring to anyone in particular when i say 'serious collector'...Most of you on this forum are VERY hardcore about the figures, :rock
My point was that as a collector of many things, I would rather own something that there is only 5 of in the world, as appose to 5,000 of that paticular thing. I personally get more satisfaction in my collection that way.

Also not saying that the 5,000 is not worth owning, it is much more satisfying knowing it is rare, rather than the guy next door also having 'your prized collection'.

As far as the commission thing goes, I wouldn't be too worried about this becoming common practice. We're a small pack of folks that are willing to pay these prices for his full sets I can't see there being too many out there that is willing to swing that big commish paper. This isn't his first commission, it won't be his last and I'm sure there are other out there that have never went public but I can't see it ever happening often enough to matter.

I understand why some dudes are upset with this but we don't know any of the details. If the person truly isn't a regular here then we really can't say that he did this in spite of the rest of the community. We don't even know how much (if at all) Rainman checks the wishlist thread. If it's someone here then that's a whole different story. The same way I talk about our relationship with RM, we have a relationship with each other. Whether we're boys, don't care for each other, commonly agree, agree to disagree, etc. we're all part of a fairly small circle that frequent the high end custom threads. I feel there should be certain courtesies and respect within our group but that's a whole different story that I won't go deep on.

And as far as the X-1 with Mags, I see nothing wrong. He tried to get that to be the DX and it wasn't gonna happen. That's the most he could've done
