It isn't surprising. People tend to watch only those movies that they think they'll like, and tend to watch the stuff they love repeatedly. Even with honest ratings, that inflates the system.
I don't think I've rated much under a 6. I avoid movies that I figure would be under a 6 -- who has the time for that? Most of my ratings are in the 8 or 9 range -- because I watch movies I think I'll like, and I'm right more often than not. To me, 9.5s and 10s are movies that I'd gladly rewatch repeatedly. There are quite a few that make the cut.

Gotta agree with Snake here, most of the time i'm pretty good at avoiding films I know I won't enjoy. Hell, some of the films people rate in her alone I can tell are gonna be horrible just by the titles.
"Troll 2: 2/10 What a piece of ____."
It's like, what were you expecting? An engaging piece of storytelling that sticks with you?![]()

Thats a good point. people that post like that generally aren't just critical of a movie (which is cool), they're generally inflammatory like they're trying to troll for reaction.
Alien3 - 7.5/10
It was the first time that I watched the special/redone edition.
It had lots of added scenes and the dog alien is born from a cow this time. I liked it better than the theatrical version.
Can't say I left the theater thinking "that was a prequel story worth telling."
