Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Machine Gun Preacher 6.5/10
Not bad, but nothing great either. I really like Marc Foster the director. I'm one of the very few who prefers Quantum over Casino, and I love Stranger than Fiction. But this one was merely ok. Gerard Butler was good in it. It's good to see him doing some real acting instead of in dreck like than Jennifer Aniston movie or his latest, Playing For Keeps. What is he thinking? He definitely has talent, but his career is going nowhere quick with these roles he's picking.

Very disappointed in this one. It was actually a downer to me.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

I am glad to see that you are having a Bale marathon...but sorry that you are not rating these movies higher. :( Have you enjoyed Bale's performances?

I hope you get around to seeing Rescue Dawn and The Fighter. He really was remarkable in both of those.
Yeah I'm enjoying Bale. I think Russell Crowe stole the show for me though.

I liked the movie overall, but was expecting a bit more out of it.

Equilibrium is next followed by either The Machinist or The Fighter.

I really liked both Bale and Crowe in 3:10 ... but I actually thought Ben Foster stole the show in that one.

All 3 were very good in it. I don't know if I can pick a favorite - but 3:10 is definitely the movie that put Ben Foster on my radar. I liked him in 30 Days of Night as well.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Oh yeah, forgot about Ben Foster. I really liked him in it as well. I think the only other movie I've seen him in is The Mechanic though, and he seemed to play the exact same role. :lol

You've never seen 30 Days of Night? Good horror flick - you should add that to your list after the Bale marathon. :)

X-MEN (2000) - 8.8/10

Such a great flick, i forgot how good it was, i remembered the theme instantly as it first played.

The opening with young Magneto was excellent, the introductions of Prof X, Magneto, Rogue, Logan, Storm and Cyclops were all great, the pacing was brilliant, it flowed so naturally. Mystique was awesomely introduced.

Mckellan was excellent as Magneto, likewise with Stewart. Their performances were excellent and their characters unique friendship made me appreciate McVoy and Fassbender even more.

It was unfortunatley too geared towards Wolverine and Rogue, more so Wolverine, it would've been better if Cyclops was given a bigger role as leader of the team (this is the same even to today with Iron Man taking the screentime away from Cap, the leader of The Avengers)

The effects were great, from Cyclops blasts, Mystiques transformations to Wolverines Claws. Magneto's magnetism was done to perfection from his base with areas only he could access with assembled metal bridges to the turning the guns on the police.

Action was servicable, Wolverine vs Mystique (when she blue) was good, Toad had some decent action (ruined in between by his prancing)

Casting was good all around. The only problems were the balancing of characters, Cyclops, Jean & Storm didn't get a whole lot to do sadly, the costuumes weren't accuracte to the comics but served their purpose of showing a united team adequately. The villains were mostly good only Toad stood out aa the weak presence.

Some people mistakenly believe that only modern superhero movies are the good ones, that they're better because they're new, after watching this again i realise that things haven't changed or need to change much, old ones are as just good as and in many cases better than new ones.

This is the first time watching it in years and even the coninuity wasn't changed as much as i thought, Sabertooths reactions to Wolverine with his affinity for his dogtags can still make him his brother, further animalisticly evolved, Wolverine's loss of memory coincides with Xaviers's dates mentioned and explains why he doesn't know him.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

I think X Men is very much a part of the Modern superhero films. It's actually the first of the modern films.

I think the last of the pre-modern era is probably Batman & Robin.

There's Blade in between but is that a superhero flick :dunno

Well not really a superhero flick but it is a comic book flick and the first Marvel comics book flick to be made for the theatres and first to really catapult Marvel films into an industry.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

Only decent X-Men movie was First Class, the rest is all gahhbage and this next X-Men movie will probally suck as well.

Re: Rate The Last Movie You Watched.

X-Men: First Class: 8.5/10

Except for some of the really lame mutants, one of the better superhero films as of late.
