Just finshed up Rise of the Tomb Raider and was really blown away!! IMO, by far the best Tomb Raider game to date and much better than I was expecting it to be. I would give it a 9 to 9.5 out of 10. What made it even better is I just got a 65" LG OLED UHDTV (65EF9500) and this was the first videogame I have played on it. To say that the graphics were absolutely breathtaking would be a massive understatement. I have been a big Tomb Raider fan from the very beginning so its just really nice to see this game series back at the top of the pack. Crystal Dynamics has really outdone themselves this time around. It had a great story, beautiful graphics, plenty of tombs to raid, and a lot of great action. I really love the design of this young Lara Croft. Even the voice is spot on for the chacracter. Again, Crystal Dynamics has really outdone themselves this time around. If your a TR fan and you haven't played this yet, I highly recommend it!!

I'd give it an 8 if it didn't have dozens and dozens of hours of mundane repeated missions, not a dead zone sandbox (like I predicted) and a protagonist that actually spoke more than one page of dialogue in the entire game. Definitely was the weakest entry of the series and a travesty to have as the "end" of the series.

Don't forget a kind of predictable horrible story, very half assed voice acting to the point of the actors literally doing roles they've done before, PR ******** that was wasted for nothing, absolutely terrible moments like the parasite killing most of your Mother Base - something like that should never, ever, be in any video game as it is effectively a form of punishment for nothing you, the player, did knowingly, and getting rid of it is time consuming - and retreading elements. Also more importantly, literally changing nothing about the series unless you try extremely hard to fit it into the timeline.

Absolutely on both accounts. I'm just GLAD that I won't be touching this game again. I'm currently playing MGS4 and I'm having way more fun, and MGS4 isn't even that great! :lol

I'm glad you enjoyed it. As a huge TR fan, I tried, REALLY hard to love the rebooted Lara but these new games just don't work for me. It's Uncharted without the comedy. :(

After destroying the gundam Metal Gear, I kind of don't want to return. That's how awful it was, and at that point I really thought I was done and it was just like side/post game stuff. No! It's still the main game apparently, but it played out like it isn't!

It was surprisingly vulnerable to a lot. It didn't even seem all that powerful either in terms of damage...unless it had ****ing kid Mantis who surprise killed me most of the time :slap: had no time to react or to get off a shot in time.

It's by far, the biggest dud of the series. There was no pay off, nothing to learn from any of the characters really, no real character development outside of the contrived Shyamalan twist ending. It's completely forgettable, and irrelevant to the series as a whole.

I still firmly believe, Kojima wasted a lot of the budget and it comes through in the final product.

On the note of Pliss's last sentence, that is why I don't think Kojima is totally an innocent, battered creator. We all know he's a freak, and did something that caused Konami to really lose it, and all through out MGS V, he wasn't that professional. The Quiet statements, all those promises, and squandering the budget...

I'm sick of Kojima. I've been sick of his **** since MGS 4, and I'm sick of this godforsken fanbase for excusing him and trying to paint him as innocent.

This is the reason I'm annoyed at Konami, it's a golden opportunity to let Kojima make an *** out of himself and for them to look innocent. But they are so dumb these days :lol :slap:

Of course he isn't innocent. We can only know what's been publicized, and Kojima's eccentric demeanour is liable to cause problems with those he works with. Just because he's created some remarkable games (MGS1-3), doesn't mean he's immune to being a ****.

Speaking of Kojima, I'm sick of seeing his smug face plastered all over the Internet. XD

He's gotten so much mileage from old accomplishments. Much like George Lucas, and like Lucas, poisoned his own creation.

He's not the Shakespeare of video game narratives as he seems to think he is, and his "Kojima-isms" are annoying and not endearingly quirky. He needs to get over himself, and his fans need to suspend their bias.
waaaay too much bias in this fanbase, and it's blinded fans to being harsh on other franchises for no reason. Even if they aren't stealth :lol

MechWarrior Online - 8/10

I'm not into free-to-play games, but I've spent roughly 30 hours in MWO and haven't regretted a second of it. A lot of the classic Battletech mechs are back, and the community is surprisingly mature with a lot of much older dudes in the matches. No teenage whelp is going to be cursing you out in this game.

I docked two points, because I just wish there was a single player campaign, like the old MW games.

Jak II HD - 9/10

The game that got me into post-Crash Bandicoot Naughty Dog, and one of my absolute favorites both by Naughty Dog and in general. Great story, some great moments and humor, good music and presentation all make a game that holds up spectacularly to me. It also really set itself apart from other platformers at the time, and I can admire it for a lot of design choices.

Can be really hard still though, like hard enough where the developers still note it, and are bewildered :lol but overall, still awesome.

Resident Evil Revelations 2 Episode 1

Sub par graphics, awkward controls and by the numbers horror gameplay hinders the game from being anything special, and what the hell did they do to Claire? Is she a mutant with that face and ****star voice? Story is kinda engaging though. I will Youtube the rest of the plot later! :lol

6/10

Wait...episode 1? You didn't buy the physical game, or you just think due to its strange release it counts for this? :lol

Finished MGSV to the point where I can finally feel comfortable giving it a rating.

6.5/10

The game play is truly enjoyable and if the story was there this could have been the best thing since Snake Eater. There has been an increasing amount of 'shark jumping' since the first playstation game, and this game goes bananas with it. Don't get me wrong, I know the zany plot hijinks have always been there, but I don't think anyone can objectively deny they are now cranked to 11. The plot twist could have been great but was handled so poorly. Chapter 2 extends and finishes the story but doesn't at all and just leaves you feeling like the thing is unfinished. Add in a really insulting metal gear design, an amount of lense flares that shames JJ Abrams, and a ironic plot narrative involving language that fails to communicate and this whole mess just feels like Kojima loves the smell of his own farts instead of an intriguing, dynamic story about saving the world from nuclear annihilation. Again, the game play is fantastic, and it is kind of silly to be blasting a game for its story alone, but this is Metal Gear Solid. I should have given up after 4 lol.

I find that MGS V's issues aren't just story, but everything else. Bland audio presentation (seriously can't stress how bad the voice acting is too), ok visuals, an empty world and other nuances.

I got it for free on PSN, since I did say I refuse to pay money since they replaced Alyson Court as Claire. I guess it's for the better though, she looks hideous.

I'll gladly buy a drink to the one person on the board who genuinely loves this game. Except Pturtle and Gaspar.

Finished This War Is Mine, solid 8 out of 10. Very bleak game.

Firewatch on ps4, ran pretty crappy at the time but was a small enjoyable experience. 8 out of 10.

The Witness. ***** my brain haha 9 out of 10. Still, the way they show you the mechanics and how to read the language as you go on was pretty impressive.
