Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

Have you seen RE1 ? That movie is possibly the greatest video game movie ever. The movie was so resident evil and even though it had no character's it was like a universe on it's own. Alice wasnt some overpowered jedi she was normal and you can see throughtout the movie that they were powerless. They couldnt even take out that licker easily. It was very good and probaly the best cliff hanger's ever.:clap. but then after that they just started to decline with ridiculous nonsense. Re1 is the only movie to really follow the game properly.

I would argue that Silent Hill is probably the most faithful Video Game movie ever made, but I enjoyed RE1 tons as well

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

While there's never been a movie based on a video game that was 100% faithful AND didn't suck, I would agree that Silent Hill (Movie) has come the closest to replicating the look and feel of the game it was based on. It even has whole scenes ripped straight from the games (down to the same camera pans/shots).

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

I didn't think that Hitman 'sucked.' Silent Hill confused me. But it's probably because I never played the game. But the burn scene in the movie has kept me from ever seeing it again.

I disagree. None of the films follow the games properly. Hell imho that along with Extinction, RE1 felt the least Resident Evil-ish. I can enjoy the first RE movie when I turn my mind off but it felt nothing like the games. All the games especially the first had a decrepit atmosphere about it. The first movie was way too clean. I also think they should have spent more time in the mansion instead of the labs. As for the characters being powerless, I didn't feel that much at all, especially after Alice got her memories back. I hate to say it but RE: Apocalypse felt more like games than any of the other films. Watching the character's running through the ruined streets of Raccoon City, seeing them being chased by NEMESIS, heck they even had that one scene that was practically shot for shot from the opening video of RE3.
Truth be told if it wasn't for NEMESIS turning into a good guy at the end, Apocalypse would probably be my favorite of the films but that him turning completely killed the movie for me.

I agree though Darth Caedus, that SH was the most faithfull VG movie. Despite the story bing a mixure of 1 and 2, it still had the SH vibe to it. They captured the atmosphere of the games almost perfectly.

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

I don't understand why Nemesis turning at the end can kill the movie for you. It makes 100% sense and is totally where the ending was going from the get go. Nemesis was Matt. We watched "Human Nemesis" all through the movie prior and knew he was a good guy. So from the movie stand point thats exactly what should of happened. It would of made no sense for movie Nemesis to just be a pure killing machine and then be blasted at the end by a giant laser or something because that wasnt the character. He was a monster right until the end, showed heart then died. It was perfect for movie Nemesis.

I think the 2nd Movie is by far the most game-feeling movie and the best of the 4. Its full of Nemseis and Code veronica. I like the first but i really didnt feel anything RE in it.

Yes from the movie's stand point it does make sense but it still killed it for me. NEMESIS in the game is arguably the most terrifying monster in the series and seeing him save the day in the movie really rubs me the wrong way even though when I first saw the movie, I figured that would happen. Like I said if he hadn't turned, I probably could have enjoyed Apoclypse. Still not as bad as the Jedi powers from Extinction though. Other than Alice's costume and Ali Larter, I can find no redeemable quality about that one.

Like I said in my post above, I agree Apocalypse had the most game feel to it and that the first movie has almost no RE feel to it. That being said, that is also the reason I can enjoy the first movie. Because with the exception of the Licker and zombies, there are no game characters and I can just think of it as a movie that just happens to have the Resident Evil title. Once they mixed the game characters with the movies it became harder for me to consider them seperate entities. Then what's worse is _____ing out the game characters just to make Alice look cooler.

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

Yes re: apocalypse was more game than movie. But I don't like mainly because Alice is such an annoying character in it. Also the nemesis getting killed by a helicopter crashing on him was stupid. Dude was almost invincible in the game. He was faster too. Like why was he some lumbering monster.

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

I didn't either. It wasn't great, but it didn't suck. But regardless, that movie is not really faithful to the games i.e. Agent 47 always works alone (he doesn't hang out with fine Russian chicks) and he also rarely speaks. And obviously that's kinda hard to replicate on the big screen. There's also nothing about that movie that screams "Hitman". The scene in Silent Hill where the lady is chasing after her daughter and running down the stairs right before the siren sounds is ripped straight from the first Silent Hill game. Right down to the camera pans/shots. That movie also features A LOT of the music from the Silent Hill games.

Pretty much everything Pyramid head does is pretty authentic to the game as well. (minus the rape scene, which would have been hilarious if it would have been in the movie :lol)

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

Reprint mannequins is not funny!!! Trust me

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

I would definitely have thought that Silent Hill was the closest rep of a game because of how confused I was. :lol

I tried to watch extinction last night but the bluray that netflix sent was scratched to hell so it kept freezing and skipping huge scenes. Had to request a new one.

I can't wait to see how they will show Michelle Rodriguez's character in 5. Maybe flashbacks or something. Or the Umbrella peeps got her dead body and were working on bringing her back, from the use of her blood? I just don't know. I could speculate till I drop. So I'll just stop.

That's honestly what I'm thinking

It would make the most sense. Maybe a new 'machine' to try to stop Alice. I'm not that far as I couldn't even get through Extinction (stupid people who do not handle bluray with care) so I am not sure where Alice is currently on her journey. Guess I'll find out soon.

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

Rain would make more, but Carlos blew up into small pieces. Hm.

And One was diced into chunks of meat. :dunno I'm hoping for flashbacks. Tomorrow filming starts! :panic:

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

The only way clones would work is if the people coming back were already apart of a clone project before their deaths.

Rain turned into a zombie and was shot in the head. Her body was left on the train and it was sealed behind the massive blast doors hidden at the Hive's mansion entrance. Umbrella didn't reopen the Hive until later and RE:Apocalypse showed that they opened it at a different point that was probably much closer to Raccoon City. Also, when they did open the doors they were promptly attacked by lickers and zombies (you can see a licker in the reflection on the mask of an Umbrella scientist during the scene). So the outbreak was caused at the point, meaning they never had a chance to get her body.

One was diced up into tiny little chunks so Umbrella recovering his remains is even less likely, especially when you take into consideration the little "disappearing bodies" game reference where Kaplan says "where did the bodies go" after they leave the Red Queen's chamber's and return later. So One's body is long gone.

Carlos sacrificed himself out in the middle of no where by blowing himself up. Any burny remains probably would have been taken by any remaining zombies in the area.

So if any of the characters are clones then they are going to have to explain that Umbrella already had their dna and stuff before their deaths, otherwise the characters can only logicially come back in flashback scenes.

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

I'm assuming you guys don't follow Milla's twitter feed? A couple months back she said that we would be learning more details about Alice past and since One and Rain are back I'm sure they have something to do with it.

Also consider that Paul listened to fans complaints and wrapped up the super powered Alice and her clones part of the story in the opening scene of Afterlife. If he was willing to end that part so quickly why do you guys think he would use clones again when people didn't like them last time.

Re: Resident Evil 5 (movie)

Yea nobody should really look to deep into it. its just confusing and horrid storytelling. They've been clones in these movies since the second one i think.
