The best parts of ROTJ are better than the best parts of TFA.

The worst parts of TFA are better than the worst parts of ROTJ.

The performances in whole are better in TFA, thanks to Ford phonin' it in.

The OT cast is more engaging than the TFA cast, but the TFA cast is very good.

TFA lacks any cringe inducing, embarrassingly bad moments like Sy Snootles and the Ewoks.

They're all good. They're all one story and like every story some parts are better than others. You don't read The Grapes of Wrath and say "Pages 37 - 59 are horse****."

Oh lord. I agree with you in lots of things but not here. Sorry, I can't even count TFA as part of SW, best I can do for you is count it as amateur Tumblr fanfic.

Hopefully Rogue One can provide something for which sacrificing the EU was worth it, because for TFA it wasn't.

Rots is a good movie though. It's not perfect but it's above every prequel ever made for Star Wars . Infact you could of just made that movie and it would of did fine. No need for the other two at all.

Idk I grew up with the new lighsaber battling movies and I'm more of a fan of Star Wars lore than the ot.

That's one hell of a Get out of Jail Free card. Does that mean that every SW film that comes out ought to be immune from criticism? Being optimistic and positive is one thing but sometimes a spade has to be called a spade.

Why not?

Individuals are free to engage with a creative work on any level they please, and that includes segmenting said work for whatever portion does or does not resonate with them.

I love Tolkien's LOTR up to a point but his treatment of women in the story is generally horse**** and sometimes his pacing sucks. And his work has considerably more internal consistency than Lucas' films.

That's entertainment.
