Re: Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (12/16/16)

I guess its just hard not to be when a coherent story and artistic integrity are almost always at the absolute bottom of the list of priorities that studios have when making a movie these days, most often when it comes to the movies people desperately want to be good (Jurassic World, ID4 2, ect). The audience can tell when something is wrong, and how can the movie really defend itself when the studios didn't care about the aspects of the film people complain about (story, characterization, substance over spectacle)?

I don't need to be a chef to know when someone crapped in my food.

Or be a sculptor to know when a sculpt doesn't look like who it's supposed to look like. Yeah, I also have trouble with the whole ''Oh I suppose you could do better'' jab.

If we're allowed have an opinion and that opinion happens to be a negative one - there will be reasons why we have that negative opinion. There will be things we thought could have been better and we might have suggestions on what would have improved it. Should we immediately be dismissed as armchair directors (assuming this is a thing to be frowned upon)? I say no. However I will admit that there is such a thing as posting too much. I've both been that guy and also been the objective observer of others doing it and I can see how it wears people down.

Calling people "armchair directors" is simply a passive aggressive way of negating their critical opinions.
You don't have to be an "armchair" anything to have an opinion, informed or not.
It's no different than calling someone a fanboy. It's just another millenial trend, like meta and several other retarded social media descriptions.

I'm a millennial (24) and still to this day don't know WTF "meta" even is. :lol

I'd look it up, but I honestly don't care.

Yup.

Although, I'm all for hating on my generation, but funny enough, most of the millennial boogieman traits are displayed by non-millennials in here, more specifically, that armchair director cry is only used by one non-millennial :lol

At least in my armchair I feel like having...

Unlike those "real" blockbuster directors.

I'm pretty sure I've heard the expression 'arm chair director' well before any new age squirts were parading it around, y'alls giving them a bit of misplaced credit there. :lol

Yeah, it's a old term but has been "adopted" by keyboard bashers as a way to show their calm superiority.

And I was actually using the word Millenial in a post modern way, as it itself is the most retarded of all these "cool" terms and words.
:lol

I'm liking that Sith-esque dude, I don't normally go for characters like that.

He seems pretty focused & driven, in a calm yet confident way, he could be a cool baddie.
