It's too bad we don't have more of these stores in Australia. I reckon there would be more than I know, but not as big as Popcultcha or those that can provide mail-in orders.

Yeah, we have one in Perth called Empire Toys that sells HT's, SS, Enterbay etc etc but it's overpriced again compared to even Popcultcha. Only really good for checking out a piece in hand then ordering it online... :rotfl

Saying that I guess we are fortunate compared to UK folk. They seem to pay a lot more or get stung for FedEx bills....

Empire used to be much better but now it seems to focus more on manga style ****, very few top shelf items there anymore and the ones they do get are crazy overpriced lol.

But I agree about using it to scope out certain things in person, just last week I went to check out the enterbay 1/4 joker :rotfl

funnily enough I was thinking of buying the 1/4 Joker too but I think I have too much on order. How'd he look, was he cheaper than Popcultcha?? Probably not I bet.

I am so jammed up in my decision guys. I ordered Wolf. After thinking about this a whole year. It was either wolf or sauron. But the price difference is just insane. I flexed wolf to see how in hands look. If its no good them sauron will gladly fill his spot!

Do you think sauron has a better value than dark rider of Mordor?

100% It is a little better value!....maybe same quality as a $2000 SS LSF...If it comes out as good as the one did at 2012 SDCC it will sell out I bet...Lots are waiting for in hand pics first...I do wish it was ES of 1000 or less...but 1500 is ok too if the quality is there...Just for looks and size alone it to me is worth it 100%!

I think he is better value BUT........

1) The Dark Rider is more iconic to me as a movie representation.
2) The Dark Rider doesn't pose the same display problems , it's still massive but manageable IMO
3) The paint job has potential for disaster on Sauron

Overall I think a lot of people are going through the same problem, me included. I have the Rider on order but I may bite on Sauron since at 1500 he most likely will sell out and fetch crazy prices afterwards.

The Dark Rider could go either way but will probably be available.

Ultimately , buy the one you love, not the one that's better value.

Neither, they are both money sinks, given how much their retail prices are to begin with, and the general demand(or lack thereof) for lotr statues.

if i am forced to pick, i will choose the rider simply because of the 500 es and the extra ex switchout part, it has some potential to hold its original value years down the road after being soldout.

sauron pf is a guaranteed money loser if you need to sell later on, and a pretty significant loss too given the $900 retail price.

Tough call considering this is the same size as a $2000 legendary figure and as far as I can tell, pretty much the same quality. Look at this then look at Wolverine....

As for the popularity of LOTR I'd say it's always a steady performer as opposed to a flash in the pan like the current Iron Man/Avengers figures.

It's all relative really -

1/6 Tony Stark action man in a pair of jeans - $270 :slap
Sauron - $900
Legendary Maul - $2000

If anything he's actually under priced.

The OP doesn't really make the question clear either. It could be valuable as in most bang for your buck or valuable as in re-sale. If it's re-sale then welcome to the lottery.... :)

At the end of the day anything over $500-600 in this hobby has very little chance of going up massively in this hobby, no matter what it is.

:goodpost: Very well said Solarsailor!!

Tony Stark Action Man!! :rotfl

It actually REALLY irks me that there is seemingly such a high demand for Avengers/Batman/Predator collectibles..I think they(1/6 scale figures)sell more because they appeal to kids aswell as casual movie fans(not just serious collectors).

I mean,I collect LOTR exclusively because I happen to love the films with all my heart.I'm seriously passionate about them and that's why I collect the PF's/maquettes/busts etc...not just because they look cool, but they represent something that means a lot to me.

I couldn't imagine many superhero collectors could say the same thing.

Why not? Many superheroes pre-date LOTR. Collectors have watched their favourite characters evolve and grow alongside themselves through comics, toys, shows and movies. Fictional characters likes Batman have been huge part of people's lives and do mean a lot to them.

I'm not dissing superhero collectors here and I fully take into account what you're saying.I just think there is a very clear difference between a great action film like "The Avengers" (essentially an enjoyable "popcorn"movie),and a sweeping, epic, majestic and MOVING piece of cinema like LOTR.

I'm not being ignorant and have no intention of disrespecting anyone's views or opinions, which they are entitled to obviously. :)

Predate LOTR... some but not many as the big superhero boom was in the 60's.

The Hobbit was published in 1937.... Superman first appeared in Action Comics #1 which was published in 1938.

So Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins have been around longer.
