Japanese people don't care. Why should anyone else.

Agreed.

When I lived in Japan, anime was pretty popular with teens and young adults (20 to 30 years old) and two Japanese friends of mine here in the States are totally on board for this movie and they think the whitewashing controversy is stupid and pointless. I agree.

But don't get me wrong, I'd still give her the most pathetic three minutes of her life in a heartbeat... even with her Vanilla Ice haircut.

lolololol

This guy's a fan of the original and his japanimation taste aligns a lot with mine, so this review gives me some hope.

Kind of eyebrow-raising that he thinks the way the major is portrayed in the anime is a flaw though.

And I don't buy the comments about the soundtrack for a second. Other than that I'm optimistic.

Edit: Oh well....

lololololol

Sorry Stuckman but i'm going with that asian chicks review.

I'll still go see it for the visuals though so screw you asian chick, stuckman wins!

I thought the film was fantastic. Very true to the original, while updating it visually, but always remaining true to what the anime film was about. Scarlett was terrific and Batou was awesome too.

Yea, i enjoyed the movie. Looked and sounded amazing in IMAX. Went home afterwards to rewatch the Anime. :)

Currently 44% on Rotten Tomatoes. Meh. I'm still gonna see ScarJo's big booty in IMAX 3D next week. :lecture

I'll confess and say that while I've always known about the original even back in my teens, I only managed to watch it for the first time a few months ago on Blu-Ray. And while I thought it was excellent, it may take me another 2 or 3 repeats to fully understand all the aesthetics of the masterpiece.

I hope this film doesn't flop badly but I'm have a bad feeling it will. You know, one day I would LOVE to see a live action of Akira done justice - saw that for the first time in 2000 on the Sci-Fi channel (before it became 'Syfy' with all those trashy B movies :lol) and that was my **** back in the day after DBZ. :rock

I read the full review btw, it's trash.

Incidentally, from Birth.Movies.Death :lol

This doesn't mean the movie is good, it just means how **** critics are nowadays and how worthless RT is.

Awesome movie. 9/10.

Science, technology, guns, violence, some sexiness, and maybe, maybe slightly spiritual. IMAX worth the extra $2.
