I saw it twice this weekend and opted to wait on the expendables. After watching this I was too artistically charged to see mindless violence. I also picked up both the soundtrack and score which are brilliant! I've been rocking out to the Bob-ombs "threshold" as well as the Metric's Black Sheep.

This is one of those movies that stays in your head long after you've left the theater, at least that was the case with me. Really disappointed that it only brought in about 10.5 million though, which of course is going to be seen as a disappointment by the studio. Both times I saw it I saw older people walk out, who clearly "didn't get it"

Yeah, it's a shame it opened in 5th place.

Can anyone who owns the soundtrack tell me which track number has the bass battle? If it's on there at all...

i also like Blood Red Shoe's "it's getting boring by the sea"

and i need to pick up the score also if only to get the universal theme in 8 bit :lol

thankfully i saw it with people that were around my age so everyone in the theater were laughing and enjoying it. hopefully word of mouth gives it a boost in the next weeks so the studio wont think its a flop

I was actually going to start a thread about this movie. I saw a behind-the-scenes doc on one of the pay channels yesterday and thought that this really looked like a great movie.

It is on my "to see" list.

Seeing this on Wednesday to support it. I like the books. Kinda bummed it did so poorly during it's opening weekend, but I wasn't surprised. I mean, it has a niche concept and it was practically thrown to the lions (and by that I mean Slyvester and crew as well as Julia Roberts).

:lol Julia Roberts = Lion.

More like cougar. She's old enough to be a cougar, right? :lol

Anyway, it takes a miracle to go up against The Expendables and Julia Roberts' Eat, Pray, Love (magnet for chickflick lovers) and win. And by miracle, I mean Batman. Scott Pilgrim doesn't have that kind of draw.

Just got back from this. Really loved it! Shame it isn't doing as well as it should at the box office.

Just saw this. I really enjoyed it. In the beginning once they played the little sound bite from Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past I knew I was gonna like it, :lol that kinda hooked me.

i got hooked with the universal theme :lol the zelda bite just cemented that love:yess:

Between this and Serenity, Universal has got to be wondering how movies can be so anticipated by the fanboys all over the internet yet still perform so poorly at the box office. Somewhere in Hollywood right now, there's a guy in a suit screaming, "I don't understand! They loved it at Comic Con!!!"

I wasn't expecting an obscure comic book adaptation targeted towards 18-25 year old gamers to beat The Expendables. But I still didn't expect it to come in fifth behind Inception.

I think the film has legs. Ed Wright's films usually do.

* Shaun of the Dead opens to $3.3 million and goes on to make $30 million worldwide.
* Hot Fuzz opens to $5.8 million and goes on to make $80 million worldwide.

I'm sure Scott Pilgrim will make it's $60mil budget back and then some. As seemingly popular the Scott Pilgrim series is to the 18-25 SDCC, gamer, and hipster crowd, it's not a guarantee that those demographics will congregate and make instant blockbuster cash for the film. It's still quite niche. Also, the internet shouldn't be used as a barometer for potential success. I mean, we all remember how well Snakes On A Plane did at the box office, and that film was made almost solely based on faith that the internet fanboy demographic would flock to it.

Saw this at a advanced screening I think three weeks ago. It's a shame it didn't do well at the box office... enjoyed it more than any of the top 5, well, except Inception.

I feel bad I didn't actually pay though, it was free... maybe I should go watch it again sometime.
