are there people here that are willing to help us get some SDCC exclusives this year? ^^

I'm attending! My second SDCC, and this time with a friend too.

Got my Member ID set up today. Bring on the badges! :rock:rock:rock

I'm on the fence about going this year. My niece's quicenerra is that Saturday and she asked me to be a part of it. So if I go, I will only stay until Friday Night (Freak's Party). Besides the Freaks Party, I would only go for getting tickets to next year.

Hmm - missed that one. I will make my decision in the next month or so. With WonderCon here in March, I may hit that up instead.

They announced that there will be no onsite ticket sales this year. We will *all* have to fight the internet battle now.

:(

People were abusing the system for these onsite ticket sales. Lets say I was going to wait on line for the next year's tickets and you wanted them as well, I could've gotten them for you and as many other people as I felt like if I had the total money needed.

When the con started selling out fast this loophole quickly caught on with scalpers who were going around forums (and craigslist, backpage, etc) collecting customers and buying them guaranteed passes on-site for who know how much of a mark-up. That is why last year they threw a last minute change allowing you to only buy two passes between like 8 & 10 am.

I am happy the purchases are going away. it is bad enough much of my con friends spent a lot of time on the first day waiting in line for passes but last year some of them didnt even sleep as they waited over night just to get passes! It is my opinion but i'd find it hard to enjoy an event like this if I spent a chunk of my time waiting in line just for a shot of doing the same the next year.

My Aunt and Uncle are moving to San Diego in June, so I'll have a place to stay for free now for at least a few years :yess: That more than cuts the cost of the trip in half!

I booked my plane ticket yesterday. :) I'm thinking this may be my last year for a little while....but then you never know. Guess a lot depends on how big of a hassle it will be to get tickets for the following year.

I've been thinking/saying that also. It has become a nightmare. The negatives are beginning to outweigh the positives. Even the Freaks/Sideshow get-togethers were starting to become inpersonal; seemed so many were only there to get freebies instead of sticking around to actually meet fellow Freaks and Sideshow staff. THAT was the main reason I started going to SDCC in the first place. The new format attempted last year was very nice and much cozier to allow more one-on-one interactions.

I purchased my plane tickets back in September (2 people, PHL -> SAN RT for $670) and yesterday I got a notice out of the blue that my arrival flight into SAN was pushed back from 5pm to 10:30pm.

I am happy I got it sorted out with Continental for a better arrival and no additional charge but it is something I should have foreseen booking so far in advance.

We had a similar situation last year but they said they cancelled our flight in. We were instantly freaked out but in the end they had to switch flight numbers, so instead of just updating the flight number, they cancelled and rebooked.
