This will be my 20th consecutive year at SDCC. Man, I'm getting old. I'm hoping to be staying at the Bayside Hilton as I have for the past few years. Can't wait to see you Freaks there!

so just to clarify, all of the hotels that are saying that nothing is available just haven't opened up their rooms for that weekend yet? i am trying to plan our trip this year but i am kind of freaking over the hotel thing...

Correct.
If you have a credit card, you may want to try going through their website if they help with travel arrangements or have a points system.

I freaked out the same last year but yea assuming they do the same thing they will open up the hotel registration at some point.

Kind of sucky story here, the folks over at CCI & Travel Planners have actually booked up basically all of the rooms that are available in the area. That is why there hasn't been anything good available but I think they have only started doing this for 2011.

I heard last year that people had their independently booked rooms at prime hotels get cancelled out of the blue and without notice which would fit with CCI taking everything available.

Yeah, you should have created an account.

Yea I did but I was trying to remember if there was a password involved but digging into the documentation it looks likke to purchase tickets I just need the member id and the last name of the person registered.

Link worked for me. I waited a few seconds after my computer clock hit 8AM to hit 'Enter' on the address bar, just in case. It still took me to the SDCC page where I had to click yet another button to actually get into the waiting room.

Friend ended up bailing sadly, so it'll just be me. Ah, well. SDCC's too exciting to get bummed out.
