Dang, tomandshell! You have set into motion the fear - the fear that many of us could have a great chance of receiving a damaged/repaired/flawed piece. I hope it isn't true, but only time will tell. I know I'm scared now. I will send this back until I get a good one, or one that can be easily fixed up. I am definitely not a fan of those slits in the thighs of the pants. They weren't present in the proto pics...

The paint job is very good !

Yes, I am happy with the head sculpt and the paint job on both. If only there wasn't a paint chip on the helmeted version, they'd be fine. I think the helmet looks like fine and that's probably how I will display him.

But when you chip off pieces in the factory, it should never be acceptable to glue them back on and paint over it. Unacceptable--and it happened twice on the same piece. I hope it only takes one replacement and that the wait won't be too long. I guess he won't be on my shelf in time for The Avengers, after all.

I think the sculpt turned out really good. The fugly EX print is a little lame though..... one of SSC worst IMO. Otherwise everything looks good. Will be getting him tomorrow.

I'm happy with the two heads and nervous about what the replacements will look like. Other than the chip, I got lucky with the paint job and lack of lazy eyes.

So the slits on the pants do not bother you? I am pretty sure all of them like this :slap

I wonder what is the purpose of the slits on the pants? Battle damaged? :dunno

I just checked out the movie and you can see the slits in his pants (at least on one leg) in at least two scenes, when Thor flips the table over at 12:46 and at 25:22 when he is spinning mjolnir right before killing that giant frost giant monster. So they're intentional. As for the chips and paint issues, I hope we start seeing some without them. 2 for 2 with problems is not good.

I wouldn't say they bother me if they are intentional and movie accurate and I just never noticed them before. Looking at the piece, it is clear that they did it on purpose. So no, it doesn't bother me in the way that a chip or break would bother me. I would have preferred it without the slits, but if that's the way the costume was designed, then I won't hold that against the piece. It won't be that visible or distracting on display.

Though the slits are screen accurate, I don't think it is necessary to have it for this sculpt. I assume the slits were cut because it would be easier for the actor to move in.

Their job is to produce a faithful and authentic 1:4 version of what was worn by the actor and seen on the screen. The costume designer put the slits in, and it's Sideshow's job to be faithful to the subject matter and include them here as well.

Those pictures completely settle it for me; the PF is more accurate to the film than my memory was. That's part of the fun of a collectible like this--the chance to study every little part of it and appreciate things you might not have noticed before.

I also thought that one leg was missing the armored piece above the knee--then I checked and see that only his right leg had it. So the PF has it right.

is the paint as thick in person as it looks in the photos? looks like he's wearing too much foundation.
