You need to give your device a good swift kick, maybe that will work? :huh

It's the forum that needs a good kick. :lol

I'm saving it in segments to see if it'll accept smaller uploads instead.

I only watched the first season a few weeks back, and enjoyed it, but. . .Ortegas has to be in my top 5 of the most annoying Star Trek characters. Up there with Neelix and Wesley. Yet apparently she gets even more attention in season 2, while they killed off the most interesting character with the most promise in the whole show before season 1 ended. What the hell?

Agreed, not sure what happened there (whether the actor wanted to bail or not) but Hemmer was easily one of the more likeable characters.

I read from one of their producers that they wanted to prove that there were real stakes and to explore the characters dealing with loss. Supposedly that death was planned from the beginning, but. . .who knows for sure? Saying all that, there's a fair chance this guy will return. There were a few silly death retcons in the first couple seasons of Discovery (pulling characters from alternate realities, doctor guy living in the energy dimension), they even pseudo-killed off Miles O'Brien while allowing his character to remain on the show, and of course you can go back to Star Trek 3 and the Genesis Planet, so plenty of precedent.

Very fun trailer, but I'm still hoping for a bit more depth to the stories this time around. The first season felt awfully thin and lightweight to me, and didn't have much in the way of meaty dialogue or moral dilemmas for the crew. Which is something even Voyager managed to do a better job of back in the day.

I didn't find SNW to be as offensively awful as Discovery or Picard Season 1 & 2, I did like Captain Pike, the design of the Enterprise and the retelling of Balance of Terror, but otherwise, I found season 1 to be very dull.

For me it was night and day between Discovery/Picard S1S2 and SNW. At that point the bar was pretty much at rock bottom but they put together something that held my interest for the duration of the season. I actually found myself giving a damn about the characters and remembering their names, shocking!

The Balance of Terror redo was probably the best thing to come out of this new era of Trek (aside from Picard S3). I just hope those Discovery writers don’t make their way over following the cancellation of that show.

Yeah I agree on the "what if" retelling of Balance of Terror being the best thing NuTrek has done, alongside season 3 of Picard.
I also agree it's miles better than the crime against humanity that is Discovery and Picard season 1 and 2.
I just overall found it very meh. Nothing offensively bad, just very little that caught my interest.

Anyone watching Season 2?

I’ve only seen episode one so far, the storyline around Dr. M’Benga/Nurse Chapel was the highlight for me. Good start so far.

Season 2 has been ok for me too.

I did not like the first episode as much as the next two though.

The whole steal the Enterprise thing was unnecessary IMO. The story would have been better if Starfleet just let them go.

Episode 2 was much better in my opinion. I loved how that ended.

Episode 3 started a bit meh, but got better moving forward. Still not as good as Episode 2 for me, but still better than Episode 1.

Finally got to episodes 2 and 3, this season is a little lacklustre compared to Season 1 IMO.

Episode 2 was OK, dragged a bit to get to a decent conclusion. I agree with you on Episode 3.

Not really sure what to think about the Pelia character, is that how the actress’s voice is normally? If it’s an acted accent, it’s a bit odd.

I think it's been a pretty decent season so far. Still not a lot of depth to the stories of course, but the cast is still charismatic as hell and there have been lots of fun character moments.

The trial episode, time travel episode and Spock turning human episode have been the standouts so far for me.

I've enjoyed it. There really is only so much they can do with 10 episode seasons. I liked how they introduced Kirk, I just hope they don't have him show up too often. This isn't meant to be about Kirk's Enterprise.

Also, I have to wonder, are they going to consider re doing a Star Trek series with these new actors after SNW?
