The one with Ortegas' away mission. . .

Pike tells her she has to stay behind because she's the only one who can pilot the ship. Later, Uhura needs to go to medical, and Ortega's the one to take her. She says, "Who will fly the ship?" and Una steps forward and says she will, going on about being a capable pilot etc.

Did I miss something? Why couldn't Una have done that in the first place?

I've enjoyed it. There really is only so much they can do with 10 episode seasons. I liked how they introduced Kirk, I just hope they don't have him show up too often. This isn't meant to be about Kirk's Enterprise.

Also, I have to wonder, are they going to consider re doing a Star Trek series with these new actors after SNW?
It really does feel like they're laying the groundwork for that. But hopefully they realize that reimagining TOS itself would be a step too far for most people, and there are far better places to go with another spinoff series.

Yes, I would like to see them continue on with characters that aren't a part of Kirk's Enterprise. As I have not watched the original series yet, I only know of Spock, Uhura and Chapel being characters on that series. So Una and La'an could move on to another series if they choose to stay in this timeline, but just not focus on the Enterprise.

Yeah that crossover worked so much better than I expected and was freakin hilarious. And the upcoming musical episode looks very promising as well.

These sort of wacky, off-kilter episodes are certainly not what I was expecting when this series was announced, but I can't deny they seem to do them really well. And it does kind of take me back to the glory days of Buffy and Angel.

Just wonder how long until we get the puppet episode...

So in the future everyone acts and talks like an imbecilic pre-teen? Okay... Clearly the real-world statics are correct, IQ's are dramatically lowing in the Western world.

I guess it didn't help that I had no idea WTF was going on with the cartoon business as I'd never heard of or (obviously) watched the cartoon, but personally, that was one of the stupidest things I've ever seen.

I like this series but Season 2...leaving me underwhelmed. Not digging the Kirk actor, plus the uninteresting episodes. There was only 1 for me last season, but this season there have been several.

I loved the crossover! I haven't watched much of Lower Decks (mostly a time constraint on my part) but what I've watched, I've enjoyed. It was wonderful to see those characters in live action. It worked much better than expected.

This was a great episode. I have never seen Lower Decks, but this was a lot of fun. Loved how they animated the crew at the end, all enjoying a drink, except for La'an, who is always so serious. I really like this crew.

Star Trek Strange Non Canon maintains course and speed by the sounds of it.

I did enjoy season 1 if memory serves but I felt it was better suited as its own thing, a Trek remake, unconnected to the classic shows and movies. I haven't seen any of season 2 yet, hopefully I'll still be able to enjoy it, but it doesn't sound like my general perspective will change.

Skipped the cartoon character one after the dreadful Spock episode, but I caught this week's M'Benga one. Very good. Solid writing, good looking production. He's the most interesting and best developed character on the show. At least no Carol Kane this week. I find her as grating and insufferable to watch as the Sedaris character on The Mandalorian.
Still not digging what the show is doing with Spock and wish Pike were more than a Food Channel stand-in, but again, this episode was a high point for me. Going to skip the "Glee" episode next week and hope to see something as interesting as this week was before the season ends.

The M'Benga episode was solid. So far, this and the Lower Decks episodes are the stand-outs for me this season.
