To put it succinctly with TRoS: Hope for the best, expect the worst. You have nothing to lose if you approach it that way.

I actually feel bad for other true SW -diehards- who are now so jaded inside that they actually completely write off a brand new 250 million dollar STAR WARS movie sight unseen based on the previous chapter instead of judging it by its own merits.

Yep, and if only people went in hoping for the best. I'm convinced a sizable majority already have their minds set with pen and paper in hand raring to tear the film to pieces from the opening crawl for no other reason than to fulfill some form of contrarian egotism which is unfortunate.

On the topic of unfortunate:

Lucasfilm and Disney are trying to manage expectations for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, considering the volatile state of the box office. And Skywalker also faces competition from Jumanji: The Next Level, which hits theaters a week earlier and is showing sizable strength on tracking.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'm happy that Ian is returning as the Emperor - I hope they go full-ham evil fanservice mode for him, and the leaked script sounds like they will. I love the new trilogy cast. Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac are fantastic, I just wish the writers gave them something better to work with. It's downright sad how Boyega's character is still being pushed to the sideliness even though he seems the happiest and most positive out of all of the cast to be in the new movies, and it seems like he's going to be a minor character yet again in TROS.

Overall, I like watching the ST more than the PT, but I still prefer the storytelling in the PT. TFA was a good movie to get the franchise back on course. I don't even hate TLJ, but Rian's twitter rants really give me a bad taste when watching it.

But yeah, here's hoping for the best. The trailers make it out to be the "Endgame" of the franchise, but without much buildup in the previous movies it's going to be hard for it to have the same payoff. I just don't know how they'll handle this, and JJ's words "hopefully fans will like the parts we got right" aren't very encouraging at all. :lol

I don?t know why the trailers are building up that lighsaber battle. Rey destroyed kylo before so idk what?s the point lol

Yeah, exactly. :lol

Probably because they can’t show
Kylo and Rey teaming up to fight the Emperor

SW is the ONE franchise that I start with a clean emotional slate prior every release not because they earned it but because i?m a HUGE fan of the elements that makes it whole.

Totally agree.....their hate has blinded them.

I give Mando 1 season before they start turning on that as well.

Thank you for your sympathy. All they had to do was treat Luke Skywalker with some respect and I?d still be a fan. Sadly, he was too busy milking a space moose and then committed suicide.

Infinity War set up Endgame, and that went through the roof.

Imagine if we were seeing something like that in a couple weeks. TFA and TLJ lead into ROS and we were gonna get an EPIC team up with the new characters and their vehicles joining forces with the OT characters and their vehicles. LUKE, HAN, LANDO, WEDGE, ACKBAR, etc. you have EVERY sw hero character team up to take on the bad guys.

Imagine a fleet of OT xwings, bwings, ywings, awings, and all that coming out of hyperspace to join the fight just like how everyone arrived at the end of endgame. It’d be the biggest SW hit ever. But NO! They RUINED IT!

When you put it that way it?s hilarious and sad. Idk why they put that scene in there

Of all the things wrong with TLJ and there is plenty wrong Luke is not one of those things for me.

To show Luke's ambivalence to the Force by showing him do menial and quotidian tasks. It's very deliberate to be depreciative.

Also, it's a sharp contrast to him at the end of the movie when he lives up to the mantle of being Luke Skywalker which was done in an interesting way we've never seen in a SW film before.

This is of course opposed to wish-fulfillment Luke where people think he should have taken down fleets with a flick of a finger, joined Rey with no qualms and used his green saber to cut down fodder made up of a thousand faceless First Order troops which is something I'd expect from an 'Endgame'-like SW movie. I'm glad they didn't.

Via Force Skype. :lol

Captain America actually did in EG what Luke faked doing against a small army and...Kylo. :lol

Even Tony's death was way cooler and way more meaningful. Shame, an iconic character like Luke deserved better.

I had a lot more issues with TLJ than that end battle but I didn’t care for it nonetheless. I was so far gone from the story by that time that it was probably the last thing I’d even think of when it comes to what I disliked about the movie.

Luke was portrayed as a homeless, space cow milking loser in TLJ who couldn't even be bothered to show up for the fight. It was an incredibly disrespectful way to portray such an iconic character.

Unfortunately that was only one of many despicable portrayals/scenes from the entire sordid tale. It was truly the worst and most insulting movie I have ever seen based on content and plot.
