I'll take your word on that. To be fair, I blame GL more than HC for what in my opinion is the worst main character in all three trilogies (that being young adult Anakin). The lines GL wrote for him (as well as Padme & others) were consistently cringeworthy, but even so I think the role required someone with more range than what HC could provide. That failure ultimately falls on the person who cast him in the role.

He was horrendously written and portrayed the only good thing to come out of PT adult Anakin is his amazing look while climbing the Jedi temple steps which translated into one super amazing Hot Toys.

Yeah we can just write it off as an inconsistency (which it is since we know that RJ didn't intend for Snoke to be a Palpatine puppet then again he didn't intend for Snoke to be anything, lol) or we can forgive it and use our head canon to connect the dots just like we did for the retcons of Anakin's identity and Leia's relationship to Luke.

So we can say that Palpatine *was* reading Ben's mind and *knew* that he was going to murder Snoke and therefore preserve Rey. Because really how could Ben have turned the saber on Snoke mindlessly, lol. Palpatine saw his intent and said "you want to kill my puppet and then bring the girl to me later sure go right ahead," especially if it leads to Rey being turned and joining his new apprentice.

You know that actually works because the way Snoke is going on literally describing beat for beat how Kylo is going to kill Rey comes off really odd lol

Ok now he will grab the saber with his right hand.

He will raise the saber.

He will point it towards Rey.

He will ignite the saber.

He will deal a striking blow.

lol

All the while ignoring her saber spinning on the hand rest next to him.

WAIT.....KYLO MOVING THE SABER TO KILL SNOKE MEANS HE ALSO KILLED A PART OF PALPATINE IN A WAY!

I?m going to fit this triangle piece into that round hole no matter how much effort it takes just to drive DiFabio nuts lol

I know right, "he raises the saber, realizes his eyes are starting to dry so blinks twice, points the saber, inhales oxygen, exhales carbon dioxide, puts his hand on the button, wonders if he remembered to empty the trash bin like I asked him to earlier, and KILLS his enemy!" lol

We've always wondered what it would have been like if David Lynch really had directed Return of the Jedi.

I guess now we know, in a small way.

Viewers spending hours and hours doing mental gymnastics, trying to come up with wild theories on how the story could "maybe" make sense.

“‘The Rise of Skywalker,’ it doesn’t answer anything. It’s provocative, it asks questions, and it could mean a lot of different things. I think that’s what was important to us,” she explained.

Quote from Kathleen Kennedy. I'm cheating cause she was specifically talking about the title and not the movie in that quote. But it clearly applies to the movie as well. Besides, when she said this back in April, it's likely the movie barely existed in its final form anyway so nobody knew what the hell it was about.

I wouldn't say no to the ***** walrus.

It's so ridiculous and it just encapsulates everything wrong with TLJ that it would actually be hilarious to have on the shelf with Fisherman Luke milking it.

I do love my post-ROTJ Luke figures a lot, though. I think they have great designs. I just refuse to acknowledge the source material.

And I'll for sure buy a 6 inch Mandalorian once one of these companies manages to get the shape/sculpt of the helmet right. Black Series looks way off, and SHF is too small.

Not even Daniel Day Lewis could pull off the lines GL wrote for Anakin. :lol

Just heard that TROS dropped 71% in its 2nd weekend. Not promising.

Wor-Gar, did you like this movie? Have you seen Logan Lucky yet?

Well, like the movie, that answer is a mixed bag. I was enjoying the first half, then everything went wonky for me. I don't think the 2nd half is necessarily worse than the first half, its likely I had a certain amount of tolerance and that it just got chipped away and finally I ran out halfway through.

As I said though, despite its problems, I do believe it is the BEST (and most re-watchable) of the ST.

?It puts the lotion on the Rey or it gets the Force again.?

(Yes, today was the day I finally managed to watch Joker for a second time. Still horrible, yet so much more satisfying than The Rise of Skywalker).

Nope it was a 59% drop. Day to day box office has been quite strong and continues to be higher than TLJ.

Well put, lol. Tolerance for wackiness is definitely a factor in how much people will enjoy this film's final act, lol.

The plus side is it’s all finally over. And in 10 years when you finally all worked it out, you can publish a book explaining it all using the posts from this forum. Naturally it will be a VERY THICK BOOK, which would decimate rainforests if it wasn’t for the advent of Kindle editions.

I think people just like the fact that he?s anakin lol. And yea they forgive the writing

:lol :lol

Wor-Gar was wondering if TROS will beat Frozen 2. Definitely not a guarantee since it would have to hold strong for several more weeks but it does have little in the way of new release competition.

Here are the films that made more than a billion this year:

1 Avengers: Endgame $2,797,800,564
2 The Lion King $1,656,713,458
3 Frozen II $1,217,590,889
4 Spider-Man: Far from Home $1,131,927,996
5 Captain Marvel $1,128,274,794
6 Toy Story 4 $1,073,394,593
7 Joker $1,062,994,002
8 Aladdin $1,050,693,953

TLJ made 1.3 billion so passing Frozen 2 is definitely a possibility. I hope it can at least pass Captain Marvel, lol.

https://www.digitalspy.com/movies/a30357515/star-wars-rise-of-skywalker-writer-defends-palpatine-return/
"There needed to be an antagonist that the good guys could be fighting, and that's when we really tried to laser in on who had been the great source of evil behind all of this for so long," Terrio continued.

"That's when we really started aggressively pursuing this idea that there is old evil that didn't die. The source of the evil in the galaxy is this dark spirit waiting for its revenge and biding its time."

Terrio also stated that Lucasfilm boss Kennedy "had this overall vision that we had to be telling the same story for nine episodes" and that she thought Palpatine's return would be a "strong" end for the saga.

"When you rewatch the earlier films," he added, "things start to make additional sense no it doesn't.:google Ren and his devotion to the idea of his grandfather. The voice that he's always heard in his head. The certain similarities between Snoke and Palpatine.

"The intention was that, by the time you get to [The Rise of Skywalker], you realise there were real reasons this is all happening. It all shows how this story is being fought cyclically through the series."

So, ur saying u ripped off Tolkien, I guess. Dark spirit? U b@st@rds. Instead of a highly interesting dynamic between Kylo and Hux,
and an ominous collection of the Knights of Ren, now every time I see Palps plunge to his death, I'll be like, nah, it'll be fine. Maybe there's
some secret footage where Dr. Pershing was waiting at the bottom with a bucket.

Give these guys credit for circling the wagons tho.:thwak
https://variety.com/2019/film/news/china-box-office-rise-of-skywalker-ip-man-4-1203453369/
?Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker? completely fizzled in its second weekend in China, setting it on track to become the least successful installment of the franchise by far in the world?s second-largest film market.

By Monday, ?Skywalker? ranked seventh at the box office behind a pack of local Chinese action films and dramas. After opening with the weakest debut of any recent ?Star Wars? films in the country, it made just $2 million in its second weekend and accounted for less than 3% of China?s total screenings.

But, will just throw this link in re movie business overall.

Once again there's the blockbusters, the bombs, and high-quality stuff that costs a bit less heading to streaming. So Boyega might wanna re-think his career options re being film oriented only.:monkey3

The domestic 10-day total for TROS ($361.8M) is pretty much even with the 10-day total for TLJ ($368.2M). So if audiences do indeed like this movie more (86% RT audience score vs. TLJ's 43%), beating TLJ's $1.3 billion global total should be a cakewalk. Curiously, though, they have the same exact IMDB audience score (7.0/10). As you say, TROS has very little strong competition upcoming.

We shall see. :)
