Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

Nope just saw that on the Yahoo page somewhere.. Is there an actual Indiana Joan thread?? Or just the Indy 5 thread. I tend to not pay attention to these things until the movie gets closer to release.

Either way.. Its an awful idea that is obviously the fault of TLJ.

That thread is hilarious

Yeah, the Indiana Joan thread is around here. And yes, its a TERRIBLE idea.

I can proudly say that I did not buy TLJ. I will not. But I'll likely give it a peek for free on HBO this summer. Just to see.

Its plays worse on TV IMO... I thought maybe I could enjoy it... But I get about 20 min in and I just get tired of it.. It feels less like SW then it did in the theater.. I have o try and make it all the way through to officially declare it my least fav SW film.. AOTC owns that right now.. But I was able to watch as soon as it was released on Home Video.. This one.. Its a chore. :(

What did Alien 3 haters complain about the most?

Characters from Aliens being treated completely different than they expected because their expected trajectory course coming out of Aliens was completely ignored by the change in director.

Sound familiar?

Since the writer's argument is that TLJ is a badly written, poorly directed movie-making effort with clear structural deficiencies, it's safe to assume the comparison he's making to A3 hinges on the same issues that plague said movie (and I like A3).
You're the one bringing in the "not what I wanted for my beloved characters" angle, not the writer...

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

I can only watch the last 40 mins of AOTC.

Not sure what I really want to see again with TLJ. Maybe the Snoke scene, and the final Luke duel. Oh, and Holdo's slaughter of thousands of innocent and diverse FO officers.

That is my issue with TLJ.. I try and think of that one moment I NEED to see again and it lacks that.. AOTC had the same issue.. Nothing really to look forward to seeing..

Snoke's death was cool IMO but it is a short moment and the payoff ends up amounting to nothing. The Final Luke battle is ruined because there are no stakes due to the fact that he is not really there.. Closest thing is the Rey and Kylo battle but I really have never been that impressed with that fight scene. The light jump is another cool moment but not something that requires a repeat viewing of the whole film.. I can just watch that part.

I just convinced myself.. Its my least fav SW film :lol

Btw.. I thought that the director said that Luke never really made contact with Leia at the end of the film (since he was a hologram)... I did watch that part again to see and.. No way does he Not touch her...

I remember liking the opening sequence, even with the "hold please" joke. Rose's sister was great. Then we went back to the island and that moment with Luke and Rey, which threw me off because I thought we'd past that time, and the movie started to unravel in multiple directions...

Imagine if the OT did that, ANH ending with medals and celebration. Then ESB we see the probe droids, then back to ANH ending. :lol

I don't even care for the opening any more.. Poe has been ruined in that film.. The action is OK. Nothing Special :(

I really Hate when Poe;s X-Wing does the Fast and The Furious U turn move :(

and then he dies from overexerting himself :lol

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

You try and Hologram yourself across the galaxy and see what happens :lol

Damn and to think he could used that power to kill Snoke.... and still drink blue milk.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

How does Poe know Maz?

The plot holes and script contrivances in the movie are so idiotic.
And watching that Farthier ‘chase’ through canto bight. Jesus what a mess. As bad as the worst part of the prequels, but in 2017.

Myself and my wife started to pause the Holdo and Poe scenes to count the number of women v men in each shot. It’s hilariously unsubtle.
At one point when Poe confronts Holdo there are 5 women around him and no men, we get the point KK. But this makes zero sense in the context of the story.
And Holdo’s interaction with Poe is aggressive and condescending. Completely illogical to make a sexism point. Where was she a few hours ago?

Poe is treated like an idiot - yet a few hours before this he saved EVERYONE by blowing up the star killer base. The time lines in this movie are so badly written.

This is what I mean about people here making better points than mainstream critics. I have no idea how Poe would know Maz or have her holo-digits. :lol
They probly should have thrown a line at that. :lol

I like all the ladies, though. This is Leia’s resistance - a lot of women would have been inspired by the war hero princess.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - December 20, 2019

even with the "hold please" joke

Sadly this only really works once, for me anyway. On repeat viewings it's just annoying, and a bad start to the film.

Reminds me, how did the First Order bounce back so quickly after the destruction of Starkiller Base? The Empire had three years to regroup after the first Death Star...

As a huge Trek fan... I have to say they're still not even remotely as big and idiotic as crap in TNG movies.
