I really think its the films fault, not Jake for the terrible part.

I'm sure he's a fine actor and could have been good in the role. But with lines like "Are you and angle?", "Yippeee!" and "Master Qui-Gon, I was wondering... what are Midicholrians?" he did not have much to work with :lol

Don't forget "my name is Anakin and i'm a person"

But yeah, Jake Lloyd crashed his acting career after TPM, his interviews after that were very cynical

Poor kid. Maybe i'm being too hard on him. Hard not to be annoying with the fine written lines lucas gave him.

Stilted. That's what I think of in the prequels. Liam Neeson, Ewan MacGregor, Christopher Lee, and Ian McDiarmid pretty much came out unscathed. Great actors like Natalie Portman and Samuel L. Jackson come off poorly.

What's the dude that played General Zod, the Chancellor in TPM.

Man, he came out swinging against Lucas in 1999-2000, remember that when he was calling GL a hack of a director and that he would never ever work with him again :lol

Star Wars destroys lives. :lol

With how most SW fans seem to act I wouldn't be shocked if this was true.

More folks need to chill out like the Josh man here :rock

I've been taking Yoga to see if I can relax :lol

You can get a pretty good idea of what he's like based on interviews and some of the GREAT making of books (SW, ESB, INDY). He's an editor and savvy businessman first...filmaker a distant second.

Spielberg did say last week that good or bad, if not for the bearded one, there would've never been any SW or Indy.

Raiders is my favorite movie followed by Empire.

So I want to give a big thanks to Spielberg and Kershner :lol

I need to watch Howard the Duck again :lol

I really don't know what point i'm exactly trying to make either :lol

That's one problem with the prequels---they have actual parts that are supposed to be funny, like the stuff with the droids in the factory or Jar Jar getting his hand stuck in the podracer engine. But they served no purpose except for trying to be funny. The humor from the original movies weren't setup that way, it wasn't like "Oh, here's that joke part"
Funny, that sort of parallels the Muppets over that same timeframe. During the 70s and early 80s, the Muppets were hilarious and genearlly ____ing awesome. Then, Henson died, and everything afterword was ham-fisted, lowest-common denominator, soulless, unfunny ____. Most of the folks who think that stuff is funny are those who were kids at the time, or those for whom the effects of nostalgia were able to travel across decades and creative teams, being superimposed on characters and franchises that are only superficially similar to that thing that made the originals so refreshing and brilliant. . .

That's too bad, especially since he reportedly had a dream right before production of TPM began that he would use all of his future earnings as an actor to come back and free the slaves.

Lol

It's hard enough not to be typecast, but it's even harder to get out of that as a kid. His acting career would have been screwed even if he hadn't given up.

Yep, stilted is a great way to describe it. A lot of talented actors, but I'm sure its hard to act in a film with so many digital elements with a director that doesn't seem to be able to tell when lines and acting seem wooden.

The Blue Screen has got to ____ with your head at sometime during the production :lol

Just look at the making of the PT to see just how crazy it is :lol

George: "Imagine you're riding around this beautiful field on a big tick. Annnnndd... ACTION!"

Hearing what actors have to say, George Lucas doesn't know how to direct actors. He doesn't understand. He doesn't relate to them. Add to that how he is surrounded by people who are too scared to say "no" and you have what he have and it is what it is.

I bet McGregor and Neeson were so excited to film those early scenes on the Trade Federation ship. They were probably swinging their swords left and right imagining packs of badass looking and sounding droids surrounding them and thinking about how awesome the finished scenes would look.

"Yes Mr Lucas, your daughter looked really beautiful in her ROTS costume" :lol

Reality translation: She looked like she belonged in Willi Wonka's factory :lecture

Well, lots of it did come out looking awesome.

Except the videogame parts on the wookie planet, that all looked like ass :lol Ok, maybe not all of it.

Also go back and watch when Yoda jumps into the speeder when escaping the senate building, no weight to it :slap

I agree and understand where you're coming from.

And Dave let you be a MOD? :wink1:

I can't even imagine. Goes to show you, a solid director is important.

That would mess with my eyes. All four of them.

That's the problem, everyone now thinks he's a golden god. Burdened by time, money, and technology was a benefit to Star Wars, Empire, and Raiders. You need people like Harrison Ford to say, "you can type this ____ but you can't say it." or something to that effect. GL previous to Jedi had to take what he could get, everything else after the fact is played (or plagued) for laughs. Think about it. I love The Last Crusade but it's essentially setup after setup for jokes and bumbling Marcus Brody. There is a correlation to it all. BluRAY!!!

All this stuff being said aside, TPM is much improved in the blueray... I dunno if it is the CGI Yoda or that they took that weird pink tint from so many scenes, but it is so much more watchable than it was before.

I agree! I actually enjoyed the movie...for what it is. It's been a few years since I've seen it.
