well, considering they've established in the Pt that the jedi wore monk-like robes, i'm expecting to see SOME level of representation there.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Yeah, he'd have to have something like what Sir Alec wore - not identical, but reflecting that elder statesman thing.

Wearing something like the black ROTJ gear would look out of place.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

That could work. The Black undersuit, the Tabbards from the jedi robes, and a brown robe ontop?

Or, perhaps Black under robes instead of sand/ tan/brown ones?

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

It is a new era for Jedi, so I hope that change is at least somewhat reflected in Luke's outfit.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

Or he'll wear that under a black robe. :huh

Yes, yes, and yes. I just don't want to see Mark Hamill wearing Obi-Wan's robes because he's a Jedi Master now. He's starting a new Jedi Order. He doesn't have to do everything the same way. A blend of his RotJ colors with more traditional robes would be nice. He did wear a tunic/coat thing over his jumpsuit in Jabba's Palace with a brown/gray hooded cape that was similar enough in my opinion. It doesn't have to be an exact replica of what his mentor wore, does it?

****ing love star wars. Mark looks fit, they should do a prequel scene at beginning set few years after Jedi with the big three, then go to present time.

Star Wars doesn't need time travel or flashbacks. It doesn't fit with the narrative style of old time serials. Besides, they're too old for that era in the timeline. I would love some animated adaptations of some of the EU canon they decide to keep. It's a pipedream, I know, but I'd be thrilled to see it. I'm actually surprised that they didn't make an animated "Shadows of the Empire" movie during their multimedia crossover in 1996. That's not even my favorite story but it'd still have been cool to see.

I see them going one of two ways. Either dressing him all in black to continue a theme they started in ROTJ, or giving him an outfit similar to either Ben's or Qui Gon's.

Either/or works for me, so long as what he's wearing at the temple Says "jedi".

He wore differnt clothes at different times in the OT, so wearing something other than traditional robes for "field work" is fine too.

once they have a definite Official Canon figured out, I'd be VERY suprised if they don't do exactly that.

He may wear an outfit similar to Anakin's in RotS, something that represent's the Jedi but also hint at a darker element to his personality.

I get the sneaking suspicion they'll want to completely distance themselves from the PT. :lol

I dunno. I can imagine the great seizures of painful first world agonies that will sweep all Star Wars forums when it is leaked that Luke mentions Anakin and "the Prophecy" in ep 7. :lol

I was actually thinking that earlier; Luke donning something akin to his father's Jedi gear when HE was in his prime, to honour his memory fondly or something like that - then the traditional robes over the top of that.. or something. Yeah, they probably won't do that. :lol

A blend of Luke's ROTJ gear with the traditional robes works for me though - why not. :duff

no time travel, yes that's not wars, but the 30 year gap is huge. just think it would be good to show flashback scene showing the big three younger CGI..whats happened in those 30 years?

I think we will get no mention much of the PT..

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (12/18/15) Discussion Thread

I think for that reason they should have done the new animated series during the time between ROTJ and Episode 7, that way they can flesh some things out and in the TV show format it would work better if they wanted to keep some of the EU stories. It would also allow them to give some background on new characters they have in the movie.

I'm expecting the official stance to be " go read X novels" once we know which ones are staying :lol

i anticipate the opening scroll to start out with something along the lines of
"Time has past, the galaxy has been in turmoil since the fall of the empire, but at last has found some sense of stability. LUKE SKYWALKER has rebuilt the Jedi order... blah blah blah" and it'll fill in SOME of the gaps.

Not sure. Anakin's Force ghost was dressed like Obi Wan. :lol
