It bugged me in TPM, but then at least ROTS provided a reason for bringing it up. Unlike AOTC's mention of Sifo Dyas which was never elaborated on.

Midiclorians would have been less offensive if they hadn't been a cause but an effect. It would have gone over better if Midiclorians didn't cause a Jedi to have the Force but instead they are attracted to it, like a moth to a light. They would still be an indicator but not the propegator of one's potential as a Force sensitive.
