Re: Christian Bale as John Connor = Thumbs Down!

I thought Bale was fine and that the writing and lack of Connor in the movie is why he doesn't shine. Worthington as Wright shines because most of the movie focuses on him. If T:S were a more Connor-centric story, I'm sure Bale would have done more with it.

I heard John Connor was shoe-horned in at the last minute storywise. In fact when Bale was brought on board his part was beefed up a bit more and I think that actually shows in the movie. Let's face it, he didn't change much from the beginning of the movie to the end. He pretty much stayed the same except for the scar. Marcus and Kyle for the win in the story arc department.

I didn't have a problem with the movie. I thought it was pretty good - not great, certainly not Terminator or T2 great, but decent enough. It'll be interesting to see where the story goes in the sequel(s).

I do kind of hope they make the transition to laser-type weapons in the films to come, if only to keep things in the same vein as the original flashback (flashfoward?) sequences.

Sooooo......are we all in agreement that we were all basically duped into thinking Christian Bale was the lead in this movie when in reality there were three story arcs one about Reese, Connor and and Marcus? Also, that the new terminator was the actual lead with his arc and everyone else were supporting roles? And ultimately the movie was used more as a launching pad for Sam Worthington's U.S. movie career and for at least one more decent Terminator movie to this franchise?...'Cause that's what basically happened. I feel so violated ^_______^;

It was rather disheartening that it got out grossed this weekend by Night at the Museum. I suppose most people 1) feel turned off by Bale 2) missed Arnold 3) are sick of the Terminator franchise. The TV show, which I thought was very well done, never really took off the way FOX was hoping it would.

He went from a Resistance fighter...to the Leader of the Resistance...

Big Change.

Just watched the bit where a certain person pops up. WTF was with the orginal music whee he appeared. Came across so cheesy. I really hope the whole movie is leaked. Doesn't deserve my money.

Dude, take it from me, it was a good film and worth your money. Go see it.

Just saw it...thought it was pretty good. I couldn't help but think of Batman everytime Christian used his gruff voice. Wish he had more story rather than just shooting and blowing stuff up. Really liked the Marcus character and that actor was very good....I think I even liked him more than Bale.

Over all a good entertaining action flick....I'd give it a solid 8/10.

Just got back from seeing it. I thought the first half was good,had SOME cheesy dialogue, but was still good. The second half was horrible!! The second half had tons of cheesy dialogue. Then when the plot started to take off, it just didn't make any sense and went know where, for me. Now don't get me wrong there where some cool parts in this movie but it just wasn't epic enough. I actually liked T3 more than this movie, and I hate T3. :lol

And I heard a lot of people saying that the last act of the movie was worth the ticket. I'm afraid that I do not agree with this statement. I found the Arnold reveal very disappointing. Arnold looked like second rate CG in this film. I was expecting the fight scene with Marcus John Kyle and Arnold to be more epic and interesting. It was not at all great like some say it was. The ending sucked as well. And where were all the damn terminators in this movie?? I think I counted only 20 of them through out the entire movie. It amazes me that this movie cost $200,000 to make.

This movie just didn't have enough to pull you in, it was as one critic had said "soulless" Even when it was trying so hard to have SOUL. I would not give this movie a second viewing, and I could imagine that the Terminator franchise will need yet another reboot. Oh and TS reminded me a lot of another movie that I watched recently, Outlander. It had a lot of the same characteristics of a failed Sci-Fi movie.

:lol That is one way to put it. Bottom line is the movie is dumb fun (border line awesome) and is worth seeing if you are a fan of the franchise. This movie needed about 15-20 mins more character development to really make it stand out.
