Re: The "All things TERMINATOR" thread.

a-dev watch this now!

You will not go see it after watching this.

He chastises the movie about sending multiple Terminators to multiple years instead of having all three appear at once but then you must also criticize T2 for that. Why not just send the T-800 *and* the T-1000 to 1984? Reese would have been toast, lol. As it stands he even admits that his criticism doesn't hold water since Skynet's approach actually succeeded in offing John.

Re: The "All things TERMINATOR" thread.

Jye winces every time I type four asterisks together **** :lol

They treat it as a reveal that she herself is the leader and not her unborn child.

Sarah assumed that she was another "mother" target until Grace revealed that it will eventually be Dani herself who helps unify the Resistance.

Yeah even that never occurred to me. I find it strange that Sarah had that assumption. Has she learned nothing from Hollywood?! :lol

I didn't see the reveal coming. I knew the savior would be a chick the way they kept referring to her giving birth to a "man" but I assumed that that meant that Grace would reveal that Dani would simply have a daughter.

Maybe I'm more forgiving because I never really bought Sarah's T1 transformation where Linda struggles to sound tough while saying "On your feet soldier." So I guess I can hand wave away Dani's believability somewhat in that regard. And the flashbacks show that Dani never gets as badass as the soldiers themselves so I just saw her as helping to unify people out of the rabble so that they could regroup and actually *become* soldiers (assumedly under someone with proper military experience.)

The "All things TERMINATOR" thread.

I agree. And even in Logan it initially took me out of the movie since it felt like they were trying to squeeze in three F-bombs into every sentence and Logan had never talked like that in any previous film. But it didn't bother me for Sarah since she started moving in that direction as soon as she pressed the button of the hydraulic press, lol.

But now you must give a listen and tell me what you think:

EDIT: Dammit you said you'll watch it after work, lol.

Not AFTER work!

At work lol

Which will be in 30 minutes lol

Jye winces every time I type four asterisks together **** :lol

I didn?t get it at first but now I know why I laugh

Then the FW scene needed something more to show her do her thing because that
saving young Grace scene
was super lame.

I also hated how hostile Grace was with Sarah seemed so forced.

Grace
dying was expected but had some impact and even though it felt grossly unearned Carl?s -For John- line gave me a lump in my throat and made my wife cry lol but it just made no freaking sense he?s Carl not UB

Re: The "All things TERMINATOR" thread.

Her size is not the issue I mean look at this no chin q-tip shaped a-hole who instantly became as lethal as the Predator special forces unit with his assault weapon.

Someone small with a great weapon of his own once said size matters not!

Give Dani a big gun and she will cause great damage like anyone else determined to eliminate threats.

My issue with Dani has nothing to do with her size it has everything to do with her special gift that she had, she
could bring people together to fight a common enemy. Seriously was she was the only one who possessed such a skill there was no other military commander who also knew how to bring people together. That?s fine if she brought some people together but leader of the entire resistance umm ok whatever lol

I didn't mean her size specifically, I was referring to the scene that shows her overpower the "bad guys." Lol

Re: The "All things TERMINATOR" thread.

That it did. *BLAM* :lol

And I had forgotten that when a T-800 drops you he continues firing when you're down. Freaking brutal. :thud:

Yeah all the Arnie/Linda scenes were well done IMO. I didn't mind her swearing since she was in "Logan" mode and had already developed a bit of a potty mouth in T2. ;)

It's not like when the T-1000 told her to call to John she said "I respectfully decline your offer good sir" lol.

Well when you don't get laid anymore I guess the potty mouth comes out. Sarah probably hadn't done the deed since she got locked up in Pescadaro.

Re: The "All things TERMINATOR" thread.

I think that was just Grace somewhat echoing Sarah wanting to blow Carl away when she first saw him. Sure Sarah explain how she helped saved billions of lives but if Grace's reality was that she had to watch her parents starve and then get raped over and over in abandoned buildings because of Sarah's accomplishments then I can see her having difficulty stepping back and looking at the big picture more fairly.

Grace seemed pretty aggressive with most people so I also wondered if it was a side effect of her augmentation.

Re: The "All things TERMINATOR" thread.

Regarding Carl's "affinity" for John and Sarah well

as he stated in the film he still can't feel true love the way that a human can but taking on the role of a loving provider does give him purpose. So in a world with no war or Skynet Command he assigned himself the mission of providing for a woman and child and also providing a mission for Sarah since she herself was another lost soldier with no purpose. We know from the initial T2 prologue that T-800's sometimes work together and his programming might have seen her as the closest thing to a fellow soldier that he could relate to.

So the thing why I don't think this is any less believable is because there are some parallels to something real that happened in my country:

where the entire nation rallied behind the widow of an assassinated senator, against a dictator who has been in power for over 20 years. This widow was an unassuming, soft-spoken housewife. She got the Catholic church behind her, went against the military, against the police and against multiple career politicians. Eventually, the generals of both military and police, along with key politicians sided with her, and the dictator got ousted.

She eventually became president after snap elections were held. Her presidency was marked by the abolishment of the previous constitution creating a new one with better safeguards against dictatorships. It survived several coup attempts by members of her own military, loyalists to the former dictator and communist rebels to overthrow her presidency.

So do I think someone like Dani can unite people against a common threat? Yeah I think it's plausible.

She might not be very good at tactics/strategy (the president I mentioned wasn't the best president either IMO), but she can get the support of people that do. Remember, she was trained by Sarah Connor, so at the very least, she knew how to fight. Even before she got targeted, it was well established by the film that she was assertive, very responsible and laser focused on things that she wanted to achieve.

I am super confident that deep inside a-dev is going to hate this movie with a passion but I think just out of loyalty and respect for your opinion I think he?s going to give you an official approval nod....

I don't think Grace knew who Sarah was at all, didn't she?

To put yourself in Grace's shoes, you're thrust into a world you don't know (yes she was a child already at this point, but multiple traumas and years of hardship and abuse will be quick to erase that), she's obviously suffering from a form of PTSD, she's had to face enemies that can look like friends (actually look like friends so that they can hurt you). You're not thinking straight due to all your enhancements. All you know is that you need to protect this woman who will be your future savior.

Out of the blue comes this other combatant who appears to have helped you before but now has you at gun-point in an unknown location. How would you react?

I know that a-dev respects both our opinions but he won't give an approval nod just to be nice. :)

Remember I defended TLJ for a good six months and can even accept TPM as canon both of which had me going down paths that a-dev just could not follow, lol.

Yep I think that's exactly right. Imagine if some old lady showed up in T2 and told Sarah "oh this war that led to the death of your lover and has your son in mortal danger? Well that's only possible because I won a *different* war and saved the world. You're welcome." Sarah would have been all get the **** out of my face *****, lol.
