Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

There is no way that Joss would do an Avengers film and leave out Red Skull. He's a fan. I can remember 2 different times he used very similar characters in his episodes.

Here is 1 example, they even carry canes.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

New i09 rumors:

-The aliens are called The Redacted and are a new version of The Skrulls. Fox still own Skrulls, so Marvel have changed them enough to not get sued. They're multicoloured and are shapeshifters.
-Thanos is in the movie. There were rumors some months ago that Loki would do business with Thanos and they're true. Thanos is tricked by Loki in the movie. Basically, Loki has been collecting Infinity Gems and the Infinity Gauntlet, but tricks Thanos in to thinking that the Infinity Gauntlet is the most powerful. In return, Thanos gives him The Redacted.
-The Leviathan is an alien serpent given to Loki by Thanos as a part of the deal.
-Red Skull is in the movie. Loki meets him on his travels. They split the 6 Infinity Gems between them. Loki takes the Mind, Reality and Power gems and Red Skull takes the Soul, Time and Space gems.
-The Redacted discover that Loki tricked their master, and betray him. Hence Loki seemingly being on The Avengers side in some set photos.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

From Mike's post it would seem they are called that. Since he put "they are called The Redacted." I'm cool with it.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

That some SERIOUS spoilerification.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I read the rest of that article and the person who wrote it said along the lines that from what we've seen in the clips, etc, things don't really seem to fit. Well, Joss has a way of making you see one thing, and it totally be 100% different. So take every clip with a grain of salt.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Oh totally. The name of the aliens wont change my view on the whole movie by any means...especially if HT makes all the characters from the film!

Hulk is actually my # 1, even more than Batman figures. :horror

Hulk > Iron Monger

But 89 Keaton and 89 Batmobile certainly are # 2 and # 3 wants. :rock

Screw it, I just want everything. :lol

This talk of not being able to call the aliens Skrulls has me confused. I figured all this time that Fox didn't have a hold on it, because of all the Skrull talk that has gone on for the last few months.

Nobody really knows for sure...all of this could be misdirection to throw people off...it could all be true...no one knows

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Fox does own it. It was part of the Fantastic Four licensing that encapulates the Skrulls as the FF license had Super Skrull as part of a villain stable. I read somewhere that Fox has the Kree as well. That is why most people thought The Avengers would use The Chitauri which are basically the Skrulls just from a nearby planet, so they in theory looked the same, spoke the same except meaner. They are not included within Fox's licensing at all.

The Redacted could be their name as the definition is something secretive removed from public showing which is a play on the shapeshifting capabity. I'm not wild about them being multicolored but most people are jumping on the word because if you were to read it like this: The [Redacted], it would mean the actual name of the aliens was taken out, meaning they didn't bother to hide the "the" since it's just a grammatical article.

The bigger news is

The fact that could have Red Skull, Loki AND Thanos? On top of Skrullesque aliens and a giant serpent? It seems like a Toy Holiday and can you imagine the HT possibilities? It's slightly ironic that TDK has Bane, Catwoman, Talia, Scarecrow all in the mix and The Avengers overloaded villains as well.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Thanks for clearing that up. I long for the days that Fox doesn't own the film rights to some of this stuff but I know I'll probably be some old geezer before that happens.
As for the other spoilerish material we've been discussing, this film really needs to be at least three hours long. If not its going to feel quite rushed.

I don't know if anyone can clear this question up. Is it possible for the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver to be in an Avengers sequel?
I've heard their film rights weren't included in Fox's X-men package, but some argue they are. I remember some interview with Scarlett Johannson where she says Scarlet Witch was a character she had discussed with Feige before being cast as Black Widow. It seems they appeared in way more Avengers books than X-men.
