Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

On one hand its probably good that Marvel doesn't own film rights to Spidey and X-Men. That removes the temptation for them to add Spider-Man and Wolverine to the Avengers roster like they stupidly did in the recent comics.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I wonder if a Secret Wars movie would be possible if/when Marvel gets the right back to Spidey and the X-Men?

I really liked Secret Wars growing up but I think Civil War would make a better movie, personally.

Disney needs to buy DC from Warner Bros so we can get AMALGAM! :lol

Honestly, he was one of only a few that actually worked. :huh

No, you're right... Either way though, just a big multi character blow out would be really cool. Infinity Gauntlet perhaps?

Sticking with Civil War. It was grounded on earth and will require less green screen, which is always a good thing. :lol

It wouldn't be any different process than doing The Avengers really.

It'd be two completely different things. The Civil War could come out being more like TDK where it's rooted in severe reality and the costumes and heroes were almost side "fodder" where The Secret Wars would definitely be more popcorn Michael Bay kind of flick. I wouldn't mind seeing both.

Believe it or not, there are gumblings that Marvel Studios will do the Infinity Guantlet only pared down to deal with their intergalactic heroes and it's been mentioned as a possible Thor film as well.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I've been really surprised by the talk of a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It would make sense if the plan is to introduce Thanos possibly in the Avengers. Hopefully if that project sees the light of day it is of the most recent incarnation. I'm just not sure how they sell it to the general public when you have a talking tree, a talking raccoon, and a telepathic dog.

I actually think it could work extremely well, especially with Marvel's heroes being relatively "recent" on scene. Public sees these new Avengers, they get squeamish and want them registered. To work from an epic standpoint though, they'd really need to pump out a few more hero flicks and maybe an Avengers sequel to boot, building up on the storyline.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

See I could see The Civil War as a way to introduce a bunch of heroes to the populous and leave them open for their own standalones following. Keep the eye on The Avengers but as people go Team Tony or Team Cap then people can be introduced to people and see their powers getting the background information later.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

i can see Civil War as a sort of Avengers 3 film. Everyone loves the Avengers in 1, everyone gets a bit iffy in 2, and in 3 Cap and Iron Man split off for a while with pro/anti reg and then come back together for a killer end to the trilogy

That might work actually. Have them send off Hulk at the end of Avengers 2, have Avengers 3 be civil war and then Avengers 4 essentially WWH.

Nam for overseeing these films anyone? That storyline would be pretty epic
