Try out Essential Avengers 1 and 2 TPB and Ultimates and Ultimates 2 TPB. Also 'Avengers Disassembled' is decent.

Thanks for that, I have heard that Ultimates is good.

Also yeah the movies great, Joss Whedon did a great job directing it

I personally just didn't enjoy the alternative what if world it's based around. Ironman looks a piece of ____ as well

Nick Fury

He's the boss of an intelligence agency and it shows. Hes secretive, manipulative and stays mostly out of trouble. I hope he'll be more active in future installments. Too much of a politician for me right now.

Black Widow

BW is a master manipulator, worthy of Loki. We get to know a little background, but not much. She kicks so much ***, it's a blast to watch. Scarjo really did her fighting scenes well. Except for the slapping hair that is.

Hawkeye

I didn't think I'd like him. I thought he'd be there and that would be it. Wrong. Way wrong. I liked him almost instantly. Hawkeye is such a badass, it's not fun being the enemy.

Iron Man

Nothing new here. RDj plays Tony as he always did and that's a very good thing.

Mark VII

Definately NOT War Machine inspired. The deployment scene gave me goosebumps twice. It has more weapons and it seems the arm rockets are a mix of Mark III and IV/VI. Too bad it gets beaten up like there's no tomorrow. Maybe Mark VIII in IM3?

Captain America

I don't see how this movie is from his perspective at all. He's still getting over his icing. You can see why he's the leader of the Avengers. He's calm, focussed, strong.

Ruffalo does a great job, I really like his voice. But he's almost like a side character.

Hulk

This film would be worthless without him. He's the icing on the cake. Hulk is funny, strong and he cares about his teammates. Hulk brings down one of the Leviathans with one (!) hit.

Thor

A solid continuation from the Thor movie. Hemsworth really IS Thor. Looking forward to Thor 2.

not really, but there's heaps of shadows when you see him and you only get to see him for a second. I think they did a pretty good job with him.
